Subject: Canon18-55 Kit Lens

Any ideas where to sell my 18-55 MM Kit Lens that came with my Canon XTi/400D.
Also do you think $70.00 US and 5.00 shipping is to much to ask.  I have used the lens only indoors for a few pictures. :)

More than £10 is too much for that lens!

Seriously before you sell it off I would find it's sweet spot and maybe use it a few times at the sweet spot then think of selling it.

I'm not selling mine - number 1. I don't feel right selling a piece of 'shyt' and being hishonest about the lens quality, I feel if I don't like the quality why 'recommend' it to someone else. Number 2 - although I probably won't use my kit lens for a LONG LONG time I 'm sure one day I will, and put of that will be using it on a film back as a creative lens...

Overall I just don't feel it's morally right to pass something on that I'm not happy with. If it wasa great lens and I'd had years or joy out of it, sure I wouldn't mind selling it. But personally I wouldn't even feel right giving it away for free...

I wouldn't sell mine either, and pretty much for the same reasons as PeeWee. An additional reason for me is that I want to use it with a retro adapter one day (have the adapter, but using it needs bright light and right now is not the season for that). IIRC you have the 28-135mm? Are you sure you won't need something in the 18-28mm range? Might be better to keep the kit lense for now until you are certain - or decide to buy a dedicated wide-angle lense. But even if you want to sell it, your price may be too high. I think a lot of folks buy the XTi/400D with the kit lense, so I doubt there's much of a market for it - not to mention that it doesn't exactly have a shining reputation, which will push the re-sale price down even further. Maybe you should check out ebay to get a feeling for the current going price right now?

I ordered the 18-55 IS to replace the Kit 18-55 is reason I no longer need it.  Lot of good reviews for the 18-55 IS.
Yes I have the 28-135 and very satisfied with it. :)

Some kit lens on ebay go from 40-100 dollars. I will place it there after christmas and see what I can get. :)

This is a hobby for me and a new one at that so I am tryng to get by as cheap as I can for now. :)

I sold my 18-55 Kit lens on ebay for $70.00 + $10.00 for shipping. :)
Weird I got what I was thinking about asking.

I am very satisfied with the 18-55 IS lens that replaced the
standard 18-55 kit lens. :)

Will buy a good monopod with the money. :)

Please don't take this the wrong way...

Well done for selling the lens and ultimately ripping someone off. But at the same time I suppose the person who brought it should've done their homework...

What you gonna use the monopod for :) ???

Why people bash the Kit lens so much I will never understand.  A lot of people like them because they are cheap.
Don't get me wrong but I disagree about ripping anyone off.  Thats up to them to do their homework before buying.

I suppose I will use the monopod to support my camera when taking some exsposures with it.
If no good for that I can use for a walking stick.   At my age anything helps. :)

I agree to the homework thing - it's just my personal opinion about the ripoff - you don't have to take it to heart :)

I probably use my monopod more as a walking aid than a photograph taking aid... I use it alot for panning shots but otherwise I wish I hadn't brought it... I'm pretty good at the hand held thing even at low shutter speeds so it's been a waste for me :(
