Subject: Label with transparency on a cylinder

thlayli2003 ( ) posted Sat, 29 December 2007 at 12:24 AM · edited Mon, 13 January 2025 at 9:29 AM

I am using Vue6 Esprit.  I am tring to make a cylinder with text on a transparent background.
The label is made in photoshop.  I have saved it in every format I can think of and no alpha is coming with it.  I made my own alpha for it but can't find where to put it in the material editor.
It is something very simple and I know I will go 'duh!' when i find out how to do it.
Any ideas?

3 ways for doing this.
Simplest way: use the basic material editor, and in the transparency slot, load in your transmap.
Hard way1: in the advanced mat editor, right click the colour production function, then in the function editr, add a texrture map input node, load in your transmap, and connect the node to the alpha output.
Hard way2: advanced mat editor, transparency tab, se transparency to 100% and check variable transparency. Right click the transparency production sphere, and connect your transmap to the transparency output.

Thanks bruno021, I always forget that the MAT editor comes up in Advanced instead of Basic.
