Why do these and several of the textures I made blur? they look fine at certain angles, but at others they blur bad? I am using a 2048x2048 texture map It is driving me nuts!

Hard to say without any specifics. It could be render settings, mat settings, or stretched uvs.

What are the specs of this model?

If this is done with Poser 7 then try dropping the Minimum Shading Rate down to 0.20 or less.

If it's not P7 then as the last poster stated, post your program and settings here.

If you are using P7 then you could maybe turn off texture filtering for a crispier look to the material.

I think your problem is due to poor UV mapping. In this screenshot the dress on the left has a simple UV map with viiews of the front and back of the dress. The polygons at the edges of the views are distorted and the texture gets severely distorted, The other version has the dress split into 11 different panels along the lines where there would be seams in a real garment and the parts are laid out as though they were on a length of cloth ready for cutting. This gives a much better result with no stretching. The discontinuities in the pattern (eg round the waist) occur where they would on a real dress and look natural.

This is what UVMapper gives me verticles = 10544 textures = 10229 normals = 0 facets = 9821 groups = 10 materials = 10 regions = 0

The map is 2048x2048
the map is the one that first opened up when I opened the obj in poser
It was easier to put printed designed texters on.

Is this the type of map you were talking about dadt?

Yes, Tthe main part of the dress has been cylindrically mapped and you can see that on the skirt area the polygons are distorted, all squeezed up together, especially the areas below the armholes.. When the texture is applied to these and then projected onto the dress the texture stretches to cover the correctly shaped polygons.   To give good results the UV map has to have minimal distotion of the polygon shapes . This is the map I ended up with for the dress I made.

I am using Poser 7 on the main camera I increased my Focal 100mm and set the min shading to .20 and that on the most part seemed to take of ny problem with blur I hope. Any way on this pose After looking at your map dadt maby I should remap the Dressweater to hopefully shop some of the distorations How do I turn off the texture filtering?

beos53 - For some reason texture filtering is turned on by default in Poser 7. You can turn off texture filtering inside the Material room but it can be a pain as you have to do it individually for each part. There is a python script I use by SVDL I think, to turn it off for an entire figure or scene. I'll give you the link when I find it.

Here's the link to SVDL's free stuff, it's a great script.
