Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 26 1:43 pm)
V4.1 is like an upgrade for V4, and if you really want, but it's too late is Alice from Aery Soul. I really love her, and trying to use her more into my artwork. But back to the Q with V4.1 you can use both V4 and V4.1 items. If the is not right no one told me and I have been using them with no problems.

Here is a link that you can go to and download many of the Daz base figures for FREE. It doesn't included V4 though, but many others.

You will need to buy the head and body morph packages for each figure if you want the ability to use character addon packages. Those morph packages are available at Daz.
Here is a link to a FAQ for V4:

Here is an exerp from the FAQ regarding using character addons for V4 and V4.1:
Quote - Will new morph packs require V4.1 or will they work with V4?
It depends on the morph pack. If the morph pack uses the ExP techonology, then V4.1 is required. If it uses the older injection channel technology (loading into PBMCC or PBMDC channels), then it will work with V4 as well as V4.1.
The V4.1 has some extra morphs, but they are largely the same. So many will work, but some won't. It all depends on how the vendor created the morphs.
Some of the Millennium figures can share clothing and textures with each other. Here is a thread that shows which ones:

[ top ]Victoria 4.1 now utilizes ExP technology. Morphs created with the ExP system can be added to existing .cr2 files using a batch file process that updates the current .cr2 file, allowing morphs and morph channels from many different sources to be added in without overwriting each other. (Morph channels allow INJectable morphs to be used, keeping the morph information outside the .cr2 until INJected into the figure, to keep the file size down.) Please see the ExP FAQ for more information.
Note: Due to the way Poser reads the ExP files, it is strongly recommended that Victoria 4.1 be kept in the default Poser Runtime. DAZ|Studio users can place Victoria 4.1 in an external folder if desired.
A new, sample resolution map with a bikini has been provided.
The upper and lower jaws can now be moved independently.
Visemes have been added for better speech representation.
[ top ]As mentioned in the "What's new in Victoria 4.1" section above, "Due to the way Poser reads the ExP files, it is strongly recommended that Victoria 4.1 be kept in the default Poser Runtime. DAZ|Studio users can place Victoria 4.1 in an external folder if desired."
The .cr2 file can be moved to an external Runtime, but the files in the Libraries:!DAZ folder should be kept in the default Poser Runtime. If the !DAZ folder is moved to an external Runtime, Poser first looks in the default Runtime, then starts looking through all files on all hard drives for the files. This can take a very long time to complete, as much as 15-20 minutes.
Quote - That's from the V4.1 readme from DAZ. 15-20 minutes sounds a bit extreme. Perhaps, using a PC powered by a hamster-wheel skewed the results somewhat.
not really, depending on the size of your hard drive and how full it is. Its like doing a wild card search on your whole hard drive for a particular file. A needle in a haystack so to speak.. :-)
At least thats the way I understand it.. If its not where it should be then it just looks everywhere else for it.

If you can't eat it or play with it,
just pee on it and walk away. :-)

I hope everyone has had a good holiday and the New Year brings better renders…
I am thinking of starting the New Year with new 3D models. I have never used any DAZ models and I see that DAZ has an end-of-year sale. I am going to start my plunge into the DAZ world starting with V4.1 and I have the following questions:
What is the difference between V4 and V4.1?
If I buy V4.1 can I use the items listed here in the Market Place for V4?
I apologize if these questions have been asked before. I could not find the answers from searching the existing posts. Thanks in advance.
