Subject: Make own props

theevans716 ( ) posted Sat, 05 January 2008 at 4:40 PM · edited Mon, 17 February 2025 at 5:03 PM

I was just wondering if anyone could point me to a good tutorial on how to make my own props in poser?

BAR-CODE ( ) posted Sat, 05 January 2008 at 4:48 PM

In poser ..IN poser you "cant" make a real prop.. you can get a free modeler and make them in that.. "WINGS" is a free modeler...

IN POSER is a no no realy ..so you might not find a tut for that..

Making props IN Poser...

Not toohard. Create your basic shapes using the Poser:Priminitives. Use as many/few as you need. Export just these objects as a Wavefront '.obj' file. Import (without any transformations), and smart-prop if required....

(TEXTURING, however, is a different matter - I'd recomend UVMapper Pro...)

Actually I would disagree, it is possible to make props and even scenes with a litle creativity using the primitives in poser.   Granted, Poser is not designed as a modelling app and falls woefully short in this arena, but it is possible to make some basic props if your fairly clever about moving, resizing and morphing your primitives with magnets to get the desired results.

Granted, a full blown modelling app makes things a whole lot easier, but truth be told I never really did care for wings3d that much, the interface was always quite confusing too me personally.  I know people who swear by it, and you can't beat the price, but I just never could quite get the hang of anything other than very simple mods to prexisting meshes in wings.
