Subject: I'm looking for a 2D transparency tutorial.

Whenever I do a 2d transparency like background trees they are transparent but are washed out looking. Does anyone know of a tutorial for doing this better?

I think this is your problem, in the mat lab click the down arrow and make sure "Blend Transparency" is selected!

Yes it is on. I found I have more luck with a jpg image and jpg image mask, than a .tiff. anyway I've got it working now. Thanks

The key is in the alpha channel.  Create an all white mask against a black background.
