Subject: Yet another weird way for Poser to freeze up

Has anyone noticed Poser freezing up when you go to click on a button in a dialogue box?  I’ve only just started having this happen.  The program keeps working but you can’t click out of the dialogue box.  The only work around is to kill poser with the task manager (it still prompts you to save on exit.  I’m running Vista.  Anyone else have this happen?  And more importantly have a way to recover without restarting?

There was a similar sounding problem a long time ago - the answer there was to switch to another task (just open a Notepad window or something if necessary) and then back to Poser. It's worth a try anyway. I can't remember the exact circumstances.

When you kill it and it prompts you to save, click the cancel box and you will be back and running.

Ah.... i have not tried the second of those but I will give it a shot next time this happens.  I did try task switching, no dice.

I have a similar problem, in my P6 if I click the inventory listings in the menu a little bit to quick/often it tends to freeze the menus up, I have no way to recover that then to restart, most of the times I can save the peice since the drop downs still work, so it's just the right hand menu that craps up on me.

My own theory on all this and the above is due to poor memory management inside Poser
6 has turned a bit better then 5 , in 5 I had the above problems all the time, what I did notice
is that even though you have 4Gb RAM avoid running other programs in the background and also check your anti virus programs , I turned min off at times and that seems to release some files that I think are locked up by it.
