Can somebody tell me the difference between V4 and V4.1

Thank you

This is from the readme file:

What's new in Victoria 4.1?

[ top ]Victoria 4.1 now utilizes ExP technology. Morphs created with the ExP system can be added to existing .cr2 files using a batch file process that updates the current .cr2 file, allowing morphs and morph channels from many different sources to be added in without overwriting each other. (Morph channels allow INJectable morphs to be used, keeping the morph information outside the .cr2 until INJected into the figure, to keep the file size down.) Please see the ExP FAQ for more information.

Note: Due to the way Poser reads the ExP files, it is strongly recommended that Victoria 4.1 be kept in the default Poser Runtime. DAZ|Studio users can place Victoria 4.1 in an external folder if desired.

A new, sample resolution map with a bikini has been provided.

The upper and lower jaws can now be moved independently.

Visemes have been added for better speech representation.

4.1 has also a acquired a less-than-fetching, default hair-do and a fuzzy bikini, which appears to be based on the one Raquel Welch wore, 1,002,007-and-a-bit years ago.

A lot of vendors do specify 4.1 as the requirement.   I don't know how crucial that is.   If you have 4.0 already (and not 4.1), you should ask DAZ to re-set your download.   There is no cost to downloading 4.1.

The 4.1 base geometries need to be in the main Poser runtime, as opposed to a V4-specific, external run-time.   I think that everything else can continue to be directed to an external runtime, if you are using one.

V4.1 also added a seperate Eyebrow mesh as per the request of a number of people in the community. (some textures may require V4.1 for this reason)

If I purchase head and body morphs for V4.1 can they be used in V4, like the ones they offer from Daz -- I don't seem to be able to find head and body morphs for V4 to creally create charcters with.

Thank you!

No, the morphs cannot be used on V4, you need to update to V4.1 to use them.

Can someone tell me why V 4.1 simply won't load in P7 for me?
I installed it - it appears to have installed correctly, it shows up in the library, but every time I try to load it, Poser simply hangs and has to be shut down with Task Manager.
I've looked over the .cr2 file in WordPad, and see nothing wrong with it. It says it's looking for the 4.1 object file, and it's right where it ought to be.
The OBJ isn't corrupted, as it loads in other programs and looks just fine.
I've tried this many times, reinstalling, many times, but nothing works - it never loads, just hangs.

wdupre ( ) posted Sat, 12 January 2008 at 1:28 PM

It won't load the object itself? thats strange. she will load slowly if the !DAZ folder is in an external runtime and you dont have file prefrences in poser 7 set to shallow, but Poser should be able to find the object no problem. you are sure that the object you are looking at is the right one. the one for V4.1 is blMilWom_v4b.obj not blMilWom_v4.obj (note the b at the end of the name)?

MikeJ ( ) posted Sat, 12 January 2008 at 2:09 PM · edited Sat, 12 January 2008 at 2:11 PM

Yes, that's the one, with the "b".
I was figuring it was due to external runtimes, and I don't have it set to shallow. maybe I didn't wait long enough or something... but regular, original V4 loads all the time, just fine, and in about fifteen seconds or so.
Poser isn't even churning away, trying to do anything, just hanging. i check task manager> Performance, and I see no CPU activity for Poser. It's like it just says No, then gets confused what to do next. ;-)

Maybe I should file a bug report with either DAZ or EF, or both. I'll admit, my runtimes and overall file structures aren't exactly kosher, plus I've altered my original V4 OBJ mesh. I wouldn't think that could have anything to do with it, but maybe it has.

To clarify, I can load the V4.1 OBJ file in Poser 7 all day long. It just doesn't like the cr2.

Can someone tell me where I can pick up V4 head and body morph to make characters with, because all I seem to find is V4.1 head and body morph.

Thank you!

They're just morph targets, and they'll be included with the rest of the V4/4.1 stuff, in your download page at DAZ. If you mean within Poser itself, much of that is in the Body selection. "Characters" are largely predefined full body morphs, although the head, for example, has its own, independent from the rest.
There is nothing added to aid in making characters with aside from that, as far as I know.

V4 morphs don't wotk the same way as Sydney and Jessie morphs work where you put the morphs and change the ears or the nose or the shape of the chin by the dial button

You can't get them anymore, they were replaced by the the V4.1 versions.

Huh?
Since when? Seems to me that V4's various parts and dials as a whole respond the same way any other cr2 with morph targets ever has.

What exactly are you asking for or talking about?
