Does anyone have a ballpark starting figure on how much to ramp up the lightening to make a screen effect picture into a printable version?

Tech Info:
See my gallery with "Candle in the Window". I'd like to make this into a printable format.
Rendered in Poser, postwork on the snow on the ledges in photoshop.

The problem: how do I desaturate with out loosing the color balance/effect.

Other info: I've figured out how to darken the outside window in postwork.

I recommend that [If you have photoshop] create a contact sheet of the image at different exposures.  Print it out on the printer and paper intended for the final.  Some local print houses will do this for free.
