I've had this project kicking around for the last 20 years.  Up until about 2 years ago, though, I wasn't sure if I was going to "bother" putting pictures on each card, and up until that same time, I was pretty sure there'd only be 36 cards.  For many of those years, the project was very much on the back burner, but also was very much not forgotten.

Two years ago, a fire was lit under my butt regarding this project and it is now 'ready for prime time.'

There are now 60 cards, with images on each. Many of the images are photos I've gotten from copyright-free sources (US government, morguefile.com, etc.).  Some are photos I've obtained from people who have given me permission to use those photos in my project.  Some are photos I've taken myself.  A few are MojoWorld images, and a few are Bryce images.  Several of the photographically based images are composites of two or more photos.

A couple of weeks ago, I sent in the paperwork to copyright this project.  And this past weekend, I was at PantheaCon, a convention for people interested in modern magical traditions.  I prepared close to a couple dozen decks for sale or trade - and I've had a very successful weekend!  I came home with 2 decks, one of which had some cutting irregularities and I'd almost be too embarrassed to sell, and the other of which was sold via an email order within a few hours of when I arrived home after the con.

There are a couple of web pages about the project which include images of a few example cards.  So, now the few of you who have been reading most of my posts know what I've meant the past few years when I've made reference to "my big project."

No, I don't have a publisher yet, but I've made a few connections along those lines this past weekend. I still have a large project of writing a more complete book to go with the cards, but right now the cards come with a single sheet printed front and back describing each card, and some additional information about how the cards are used.

The Concept...The availability of different color tints (Available in different tint's on each side). Makes them very customizable and "Personal" (As Divination should be).

it's been a long journey, and I've gone through two different "playing card manufacturers," but the second one made it work and so now I have my decks available for you to own!

there's a new page at the site which has a thumbnail and description of each card, including in many cases specifics about what software was used to create the image.  a lot of them are photographs, though, so all my Bryce and MojoWorld friends, try not to be too disappointed that only about a third of the deck is done w/ 3d stuff.

there are 7 cards which use MojoWorld (and 3 of those also use Poser).  of course, the chemical element Molybdenum, symbol Mo and atomic number 42 (the meaning of life, the universe and everything) is a MojoWorld image, and represents the physical embodiement of the universe.

there are 10 cards which use Bryce, and part of an 11th one, where you'd never know that the rutilated quartz texture barely seen underneath the lips on the Titanium card was rendered in Bryce...
I have a couple cool stories:

one is in the 'Bio' section of my profile at fark.com: Drew Curtis happily reunited very special correspondent Paul Boutin with old friend Calyxa Omphalos..  due to that meeting and what happened the very next morning, I had a bunch of pre-orders (before I even knew if the second printer was going to be able to make the decks, or if it'd be the beginning of another 6 months of frustration and disappointment...)

the other is that one of the people who saw my deck on boingboing the next morning was Theodore Gray, builder of the periodic table table (an actual conference table shaped like the periodic table, where each element's square is a lid which lifts off of a space available to contain samples of those elements) pre-ordered one of my decks and bought one of my hand-made custom decks, too!  also, he asked me about how I got my cards manufactured - and now he's working on his own deck of periodic table cards, based on his poster.

the bottom line on that second story is that if you're considering making a completely custom deck of cards, contact me for a name.

Wow, this is so cool!!  I love the cards and I am working on desgining my own tarot deck.  I would love to know who you would recommend as a supplier.
