Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 30 8:14 pm)
Rutra muito obrigado and thanks to everyone by reading the attached thread it seems Vue 6 Espirit is not capable of doing this which I have to admit slighty annoys me a wee bit. I guess I'll have to save me shillings to side grade to Vue Infinite one of these blue moons.
De nada. :-)
Infinite has many advantages over Esprit. E-on has a comparative chart, which you probably know already but anyway here it goes:

For me, the eco-systems alone is a sufficiently strong argument to sidegrade.
Have fun! And have a wonderful 2008! :-)
In Esprit - I don't see the option to save a PSD. Yes ths is a bummer given that I do all of may animations as images....I am having to pick between Poser and VUE depending upon what I am animating- sometimes I do the object only in Poser to get the PNG with the transarency and depending upon whether I need the object to cast shadows or interact withe scene then I may render from VUE. Generally it is faster for me to render in Poser as a transparency to lay over a VUE scene. Generally.

THanks for the Tut but I have Esprit. First, saving as PSD is not an option. Second I can save as PNG but no where does it it have a check box to embed alpha. So what I think I would get is the tree on a black background. Unless I'm missing something.....I thought this was going to be what I needed until I got to the last step about checking that box that doesn't exist.... :(

OK well I didn't know it wouldn't ahve that checkbox on save
But there is an option you can do assuming you have it
when you render an image to screen, you have 3 display options, colour, alpha and depth - the icons are next to the save image button.
If you choose to display last render alpha then save that as well as the colour you could then load that as the alpha in your image editor - yes ?

I am creating images for animation and would like to load them directly into my editor as a string of images. I am dealing with dozens of images at a time.
If I create the alpha channel all I can do is use this in my editor a s a mask so that that I can composite the image onto something else - but that is an extra step that does not provide the results you get with an image of a transparent background in a PNG - it's already done for you there!
So, with Esprit I have limitations and I can always use Poser - just trying to handle/match certain lighting situations in one program. With the ability to create transparent PNGs in VUE that would be great - but Esprit just doesn't seemt to have this feature. Thanks for all of your suggestions...

I was wondering how I would save a render to have a transparent background much like .pngs from poser?
