Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 13 11:02 am)
Earlier versions of Poser can duplicate props using the Grouping Tool.

it's either in the file or edit menu - I can't recall offhand which and I'm at work so I can't check

Warning about duplicate. It will duplicate everything which is associated. So if you duplicate a prop which is parented to a figure which has clothes associated with it, everything is duplicated. It would have been nicer if duplication only affected an object/figure and it's children. (I found this out the hard way -- I duplicated some clothing worn by a figure, intending to change it in the material room to a displacement-based mud-splattered second skin, and got a second copy of the figure, its clothing, the props the figure was holding.
On the other hand, it does make some things very easy. I'm nearly finished with a rendering of a mobile made of identically morphed and posed figures, which differ only in their textures. This makes it very easy.
Wow, now that is a cool addition. Does the new object remain linked to the old one in any way? When I tried to use PoserPython in P5 to duplicate objects, they would remain linked in the memory and changes to the mesh in one (at least those undertaken using Python) were reflected in the other, as well.
Actually, they probably wouldn't be linked. The Python effect seemed to result from a failure to finalize the process of adding the new object before it was altered. I doubt anything like that happens. Hmm.
I guess I need to test this! Woot! New things! Golly, did they create a Python function to make use of this new option? (Cage rushes off, muttering to himself....)

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking. He apologizes for this. He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.
Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below. His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.

Exactly! Ain't no big deal, IMO.

Just had to express my joy at finding a menu option for duplicating your objects in Poser 7. Finally after all these years. I've been buying Poser since version 4 in 1999 and this is a long overdue addition.
Just had to post this.
