**Dear All- Hi! What a way to do an intro!!  I'm looking for someone or somebodies who know how to use a Wacom Pen Pallette with their Adobe program and also a thingie you would look at if say you were designing a dress on a body, would you stand that up beside your monitor or do you use that on the computer now too?  Like I saw this on (see pic. from Rend.) the other day and that is what I'm looking for if not too expensive?  The pic should be attached! Wow! Allot of information to cover.

1. I know nothing about pens. I use a Cordless Wheel Mouse by Logitech which works excellently with modeling programs Rhinoceros 3D, Hexagon, and Carrara; as well as Photoshop, of course.
2. You may encounter copyright problems with a dress you did not design or a printed pattern on the dress you did not design. For further information on the subject, select the Copyright Forum.
3. If you wanted to get started on a dress by using someone else's design and then altering it, whatever, I suggest taking digital photos and working from there using Photoshop.
4. Depending upon your budget, I would suggest a polygon modeling program to make the dress with (you literally need to build a 3D Model if you want to make clothing for Poser or DAZ figures.

 

If you are good in drawing, you could start with a render of a human body from Poser or the free DAZ programs (both 3D). Export the drawing to Photoshop and then draw the dress over this image.

Wacom tablets are great to work with - it will feel more like pen or pencil - so much easier than using a mouse, which is so unnatural.
You do not need a large one to get started.

I am using a very old Wacom tablet, it is about 12 or 13 years old now and still working well.
The only drawback from being so old is that no new drivers are written for like Vista and no it does not support pressure sensitivity anymore.

Wacom graphire tablets are great, that's what I have. If you can afford larger one, they help, only the very rich/professional need the Intous line though!! ;) IIRC One I got is 6"x8", really cool. Latest version is a "bluetooth" wireless so you can have it in your lap if wish.

They also have a range of EXTREMELy expensive "tablet monitors" you can draw on the screen as per a tablet, wow!

The figure desginer or DAZ studio (with free models form DAZ, like Vicky, Mike etc) can certainly do what you need.
I know Poser can do "cartoon" renders, that is LINE art, which maybe helpful too? But that's more money and you probably don't need.

I think there's a plugin for DAZ studio that does line art?
