Well it looks like this is gonna be a year of change for yours truly.
As you know I got the job of Forum Coordinator just the other day, and I'd like to thank everyone in Admin for their support, and I'd also like to thank you guys here for all the congrats and happy thoughts!

However, last night I got somemore great news. Having completed a training course in Radio Presentation last year I've been given my own radio show at our local hospital radio station - Radio Bronglais (87.8fm)!  And what's more, it's a Rock Show!

I really wanted to give something back to our hospital after 18 years of calling on them to patch up my family's injuries, curing illnesses and delivering babies to various family members, but especially for last May when they fixed up my son and I after our car crash.

When this opportunity came up I jumped at it with the result that on Thursday 31st from 7-8pm GMT I'll be 'going live' with my show 'Bronglais Rocks!'

As it's Hospital Radio you won't hear it on the net - more's the pity - but  I'll play one for you guys anyway. You're my family and it's the least I can do!

They won't let you set up a shoutcast stream? I thought that was something which is possible through VideoLAN, and not just listening or watching. (But knowing how to make that work correctly is another issue.)

Attached Link: Toffee Sunday Smash - With Ace of Wands

It's by Andy Bown, it's the theme tune to a 70's TV series that I've just found, the series was originally called "Tarot" but was changed to "The Ace of Wands" - so it's no wonder I never found it before since if you put Tarot into google all you seem to get are about 500 million pages about mucking about with funny cards.

Link to the actual tune - in's a fair way down on "side 2" but I quite liked some of the others too, not that I'd play them much, unlike the metal I usually like, but it was nice to hear old stuff like that.

Hint, if you want to go right to the track, try moving the bobble to the down stroke of the "p" in psychedelia.

I wonder therefore if that could be classed as "early Quo"?

Wha?  Which bit?

Did you try the link?

This is what you see at that link, and if you move the button to at the downstroke of the 'P' as indicated, or just slightly before, then hopefully you'll hear the DJ from ToffeeSundaySmash introducing Andy Bown's (of the Quo) piece called "Ace of Wands" which is the theme tune for the show of the same name that ran in the 70's on UK TV.

The link to a site about the show is above and here's a link to the lyrics:

  • most of which I got wrong as a child - actually thinking the chorus went "Tarot comes, Tarot Phenomenon, Tarot comes, the Mystic man" - see what happens with today's better sound production and reception?

I guess they thought using one of the cards was better than naming it after the whole deck.
It's equivalent to the ace of clubs in a regular deck of cards.

The Beatles
The Rolling Stones
Iron Maiden
AC/DC
Van Halen
Guns 'n Roses
Velvet Revolver
Metallica
ZZtop
Limb Bizkit
Def Leppard
Red Hot Chilli Peppers
Bright Eyes

How hard do you go in terms of rock? Cuz i know plenty other bands but I wouldnt want to be blamed of someone old getting a lethal heart attack while getting over-excited headbanging to "Angel of Death" by Slayer or someone getting knocked out in a moshpit on "Blunt force trauma" by Damageplan (R.I.P Dimebag :-()... but if you dont shy a bit of the harder bands, you can't really fail with:

Metallica
Disturbed
Mudvayne
Vader
Slayer
Drowning pool
System of a Down
Korn
Apocalyptica
