I'm planning to upgrade  from CS2 to CS3. Has anyone  any comments on the pros and cons of the upgrade. I'm concerned that CS3 may run too slowly as my PC, while not being old ,is not exactly state of the art.( P4 3.0 Ghz, 1G RAM). CS2 runs fine even with large images (3000x2000 pixels.)

I run CS3 on a 2.26 Ghz processor, 2GB RAM without any trouble.  I frequently have Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator and Bridge open all at the same time.  No trouble with the system running slow or even crashing.

The CS3 is an upgrade but does a complete new install due to its internal makeover.  Previous versions of the product do not need to be installed if I remember correctly.

Bridge is a memory hog - no kidding! I just leave it open the entire time I'm on Photoshop.
CS3 should run just fine on your computer - one thing to note is that the print engine is still buggy - this is a common complaint for users, so keep CS2 handy for printing for now until they fix it.

i agree with Lew, bridge is HUGE memory hog. if you don't plan on using it much, don't launch it.

also, not sure if it's part of the normal install or not, but if you're prompted to install Version Cue, and you're NOT running a network environment (where a bunch of you work on the same project and need the same PS files...), DON'T install it! 

it'll just waste hard drive space and a chunk of memory. i've found it only useful for version control and even then, at the office it's easier for me to shout over to a co-worker for a file than drill down through Bridge and Cue...
