basically, De Beers the diamond company, got hit by a massive class action lawsuit, for artifically inflating diamond prices....folks, diamonds are relatively common (well, sort of, small ones anyway udner 4 carats), you've all been HAD  :tt2:
Last I heard De Beers had allegedly a 10,000 ton stock pile of 'em...

anyway, nice big $135 million to give away to ordinary customers, so if you've bought some expensive diamonds or diamond jewellery in past 13 years or so... ;)

I love gemstones, but am quite happy with artificial ones.
These are mine, about £40 worth, the tiny ones are real aquamarines/garnets, big ones are artificial peridot and artificial aqumarine. :)

There are actually garnets here in nc.. we actually picked some up while horseback riding near an old alum cave.

I'd say the ones we scored were about the size of an american quarter, if it were a ball instead of a disc.

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

Closer to home in New England, the largest garnet crystal ever found at the Barton Mine, Gore Mountain, North Creek, NY was 0.91 meters diameter and weighed an estimated 1,544 kilograms.
