Yest that's correct - this is Gallands Me109 (http://www.stormbirdsannex.com/images/sundin/pilot_galland.jpg)
I have a book filled with me109 color schemes and blueprints so I will probably do a texture variation - not the rusty one pulled out from the bottom of the English Channel though :)
I'm doing fine Clint! Hopefully I will be able to go as part of my job this year - is it in LA?

*"..so I will probably do a texture variation"
*Cool!
*"not the rusty one pulled out from the bottom of the English Channel though :)"
*You're not far wrong - this one was pulled from the bottom of a Russian lake.
And depsite all those years under the mud the owner said when they tested the spark plugs most of them still fired! Now thats what you call German engineering!!
Pinky - you left the lens cap of your mind on again.
*any suggestions for texture variations?
My suggestion would be the more "exotic" versions and more specific the non-German air forces .
A list of those air forces can be found on this page (even detailing which ones used the "E") :
ilico - thanks, but non of those are the "E" version of the Messerschmitt.
jgodeau - apart from yugoslavian, romanian, finish and swiss I have seen a japanese version. Apparently 4 machines were sent to japan for evaluation. I'm more thinking of making one used in north africa with the "desert" camo but I'm having a hard time finding decent references..

Attached Link: Skins for the 109E series.
Try this link for skins. Although the skin files are for the IL2 flight simulator game, they may help with ideas. If you want to see them on the plane itself let me know and I will take a screenshot with the skin you are interested in as I have the game. Most if not all, are authentic.*... Simply adding a texture won't do for a desert version, as those airplanes were modified for use in tropical conditions. Aat least you have to add the "Tropenfilter" of which you can find 2 images - open and closed - at this link :[

I would prefer a specific version and subversion correct in every detail rather than a generic airplane that could be any and at the same time none of the Bf109's many versions.
That tropical filter at that link is the wrong one. The filter you are pointing out was only for the 109 F.
(See, now that is what type of useless knowledge you get for having built 13 different versions of the Me 109 scale models when I was a little kid about 2 million years ago. Lol, and my mother said I was wasting my time. If only she can see how important that work has become.)
Your specialist military, sci-fi, historical and real world site.
Excellent model as always. :)
In case anyone missed it, the ME 109 is now available for sale at Vanishing Point and Content Paradise.
