Subject: Maybe a texturing difficulty

Earlier I posted a thread about my Poser 5 freezing, which it definitely is. However, its only freezing on one model. I've checked and some of the others I have with props, more clothes, more morphs and lights.. all do fine. I think I did something wrong applying her skin texture. This is the first time I've done that. I bought some fun merchant resources to play with, got her ready and then didn't really know how to apply the new textures the first time. I settled for adding a V3 texture then changing it to the textures I made in the material room. This isn't a heavily morphed model, just some changes to the face.

How should I have applied her texture the first time? I really liked the face I did for this one, I'm hoping I don't have to scrap the whole project after hours of fiddling about., although it might come to that. In the end, maybe there is something else about her that's broken. I'm stumped.

It's hard to know exactly what's happening from your description but there's something you can try first...

Try the model without any textures and see if the same problem occurs.  Then, try the textures on a different model (example, an unmorphed V3) and see what happens then.

The textures themselves shouldn't make Poser freeze up unless they are ludicrously large.  Then again, it all depends on the amount of RAM available, too.  As an aside, Poser 5 is much more inclined to lock up than 6 or 7.

I was afraid it might be hard for someone else to know what was going on from my description, its like going to an auto mechanic and saying... 'its going click, click, Bonk'. But I'll definitely try your suggestions. I don't have tons of ram.. 712 mgb so that certainly could be an issue.  What has me puzzled is why other things will render and this won't. I think the textures are just normal size.. but then I really don't know what's normal. If I remember right 4000x1272 . I didn't resize them, just left them the size they were out of the package.

ha! edited to change 'gigs' to mgb, gosh don't I wish I had a computer that could handle that much ram!
