Subject: Fake content libraries

Why did e-on load their expensive software with fake content libraries filled with hidden links to their shop? Click on the thumbnail and your computer tries to connect. Very annoying, bordering on sleazy.

Very sleazy.

Click on the little ghost and all that content is hidden.

IIRC its all the content that has the ( ~ ) in its name. So you can also get rid of all that. Make sure I have it right before deleting. Just in case I'm wrong. LOL.

Most of "that" content is by other Vue artists, and their support is important to some of the rest of us who need that content.  ???

That's all well and good, keenart. I'm sure the content is excellent—though easily found at the shop. No need for trickery.

"Click on the little ghost and all that content is hidden," was the reply.  Not trickery, just knowing how to use the software if you read the manual.

Paloth, this was a much requested feature from the folks at Cornucopia3d, so e-on obliged. And created the ghost icon for those (like me) who prefer to shop their way.

bruno021, if you had to request this feature before it existed, how did you and the others at Cornucopia 3d know that you prefered it? It just seems to me that many who make their way through the 576 page manual might break down and work with the software before they finish. If they trip and stumble into a commercial while trying to load what appears to be included content, they might get a little peeved at the "public service" and view it as less than a personal favor. Does Vue periodically load new ghost content libraries if you allow it to connect to the internet? This seems an odd way to shop.

Well, before Vue6, there was Vue5, 4,3,2,1, and before you came to the world of Vue, this world already existed, as shocking as it may sound, with many users who answered a survey at cornucopia3d regarding content. And many requested a way to shop from within Vue.
Now if the ghost icon is not enough for you, here's what you can do:
In Vue, disable "check for new content" in the files, preferences menu and quit Vue.
Do a windows search ( if you're on mac, you'll know how to translate it to the apple world) and search for files that start with a ~~ in your Vue directory.
Then delete all these files.

I guess placing a section in the Vue browser called "Shop" that when clicked would bring you to the place desired would be just too straightforward and obvious, hence the ghost content... In any case, thanks for the information. I'm sure I would have gotten to it eventually as I read through the manual to learn how to create scenes and avoid the..emm...pitfalls.
