Subject: problem with moving layers

hi this might sound like such a newbie question but owell lol
well for some reason now i can olny move watever is on the layer when i click on it how do i change it so i  can move watever is on the layer without actually clicking on the thing that is on the layer,i had it this way for ages and then like last week i must of press a button or something and made it change to only be able the move the layer by click on the pic which is on it
hopefull you get wat i mean

try resetting your preferences? :)

CTRL+click on object in the canvas will automatically select right layer.

RMB over objects on canvas will give you list of layers. (Only the objects that are overlaping each other ). I mean the objects that are connected in some way.

Otherwise you must select layer in layer palette to move object that is on him.

Custom shapes or any other vector shape can be moved around until you rasterize him.

The Move Tool has an Auto Select Layer option at the top. If it's checked then you have to click object you want to move. If it's unchecked you just have to have the layer selected in layers palette.
