Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 11 12:18 am)
There was a Python script called PuppetMaster that would convert poses (still and animated) between different figures, but has needed (I believe) recompiling for Poser 7, and e-frontier never got round to releasing the updated version. Hopefully SmithMicro may get around to it.
Failing that, if you are using Poser 7, it may be worth nipping over to PhilC's site in this thread, http://www.philc.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1488 and installing the V4 dat files into P7, saving the V3 pose as a universal pose, and try applying the newly saved universal pose to V4. Other than that it's just a case of applying the V3 pose and tweaking until it looks right.
If you are using P7 there is the universal Pose converter built in. Or might want to look at puppet master if using P6.
I make most of my poses doing one of two things loading an hi res square into the scene then loading an image of the pose I want or take one of the default poses that is close or near to want I want and tweak it. 95% of my poses I have created are for my own use so I don't consider the second part cheating.

Using premade pose sets is certainly not cheating :) It's actually smart! Why reinvent the wheel? hehe
Another thing I do with premade pose sets is to mix and match them by breaking some down into partial poses and saving them to my Pose library.
Sometimes a full pose will have certain elements in it IE: arm position or leg position, that I think will work for my scene, but the rest of the pose doesn't. So in those cases I apply a full pose and save out the part of the pose that I want to use for my scene IE: arm pose. Then apply another full pose and save out a part of that one IE: leg pose. Then apply yet another one and save out the hand and finger pose.
Then when I make my scene I can apply each partial pose to my figure and get the exact pose that I want.

Universal Poses? sometimes I apply by accident a P7 pose to a P5 - It kind of works - depending on the pose but it in no way looks as good as apply a P7 to a P7. Is there a step I am missing or is this just supposed to be automatic and I get what I get?? tks

When a photographer use flowers bought from store in a scene everyone don't brother :it is an correct accessory
When in Poser we use flowers bought at Daz ,some say it is cheating ;you better use a 3d soft and model the flowers by yourself
I think it is more important the art of seing, the creativity on composing scene and lighting, the story and sens of the picture than the tools and accessories used for it

Okay... blush... yeah, I know using bought poses is.. ummm... cheating?
...but I do have quite a lot of pose files... sorry everyone.
Thing is, I would like to use some V3 poses on V4... which you can do but they are not perfect... a little tweaking and you can get a good pose.
My question is, does anyone know of a utility to convert a pose (either before or after it is loaded) form one char to another.. eg.. V3 to V4
Thanks
