I know this sounds like a stupid question but have you recently cleaned out temp files? As in, done a search for *.tmp -- and when you did the search, made sure you checked hidden files and folders?
Do you use MSN Messenger?

Is your computer slowing down noticeably in other apps?

When was the last time you cleaned out your registry?

How much software is on your pc that you never use?

Defragged any time recently?

I know, lot's of questions, but often times the issues with programs freezing lie there.

Hello There RobynsVeil,
And thank for your time,

Right, Ive not Cleaned out any Temp files,  And i don't use MSN,
Computer is not slowing down so much,
MY Virtual memory is 2.00 GB
Available Physical Memory 671.14 MB
I've Never cleaned out my registry, i should do though, but i need the software,
How much software don't i use, About 5 or  6 programmes,
Last time i checked there was no need for De frag

I'm thinking maybe it was something i downloaded, on Rendo Free Stuff, that is when the problem started, Ive taken of what i thought to be the offending items, and all was well,  until the problem came back,
I've even uninstalled poser 7 then reinstalled, but the same problem, but now also when rendering,

Good, that eliminates those issues.

Now, we might be barking up an entirely wrong tree, but it's worth looking at anyway. Even though you have two gig of virtual memory, it might still be worth setting rendering up to run as a separate process:
Edit-> Preferences-> Render tab-> tick the separate process box.

Also, another issue I've encountered which PhilC's helped me with (and which might well be the case with a freebie) is that the mesh of that conforming item may not be entirely intact. Here is a thread that goes into the problem at some depth:
www.philc.net/forum/viewtopic.php
Difference here to your dilemma was: Poser didn't freeze, but there were some non-polygon verts out there causing dramas in OBJ2CR2. I brought up the offending garment's .obj file in Programmer's File Editor, a free program I'd be happy to get you you if you email me. Nice for looking at huge text files, which those cr2 and obj files seem to be, for the most part.

BTW, you say your virtual memory is 2 gig... how much is your actual RAM?
