Subject: Help with colour calibration, Vista 64bit,

silverblade33 ( ) posted Tue, 22 January 2008 at 2:08 AM · edited Mon, 27 January 2025 at 12:02 AM

new system, new monitor Samsung206BW, fantastic comapred to the bog standard monitor I had before.
however I can't get the colour on the monitor to what I'm used to from previous. My previous of course, may have been wrong.

Adobe Gamma won't work on Vista and it's an LCD monitor anyway.

I'm a bit light sensitive (bright light tends ot give me headaches) , fyi.

What calibration system would you recommend? I was thinking of say, a Huey?
I dont have a grweat deal of money, nor need perfection!

Guess Wabe will know about this as it' s one of his pet subjects? :)

Thanks for any help!

The Huey gives good results, but its downsides are: gamma corrections occur if there are light changes while you're in front of the monitor, and it leaves gross marks on the monitor, since you need to stick it on the monitor for the first calibration. You stick it with a tiny amount of liquid, so if nothing else is around, you generally use a little saliva....Yuck!

yuck :D
well i don't need constant updating, just once in a while as I'm not needing that degree of precision, I'm mostly just a hobbyist.
i do see definate differences in this display to all my other ones scratches head

What graphics card are you using?
Nvidia usually has a calibrator built in to the Nvidia control panel!

In that case, have you tried the "Colour manager" inside Vista's control panel??
That may [or not] help!!

Maybe a bit of trial and error, see if something suits you better, try it one change at a time and if it doesn't work put it back as it was!!
That's my ideas exhausted!! [LOL].
