Subject: P7 Start-up problems... Help please

visque ( ) posted Wed, 06 February 2008 at 9:09 AM · edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 11:48 PM

I was experiencing some rendering issues with P7, so I figured a fresh install might be in order.

NOW P7 won't get past the start screen, with the runners on it.  I am continuing to try to debug myself, but if you have seen this problem, and have any suggestions, please let me know.

As aside, during the re-install, I was not prompted for my serial number.

You'll have some preference setting from the original installation stored in C:Documents and SettingsAdministratorApplication DataPoser 7 . With Poser closed try deleting those, then restart Poser

(Back up first just in case).

Thanks Phil.  You and I have been here from the humble beginnings, but I seem to be the one who always post with problems.

I will give your suggestion a try.  Thanks in advance.

I took PhilC's advice, but Poser7 still does not open.  It gets to the start-up screen that has the shadowed runners on it and then closes.  There is no error message, no blue screens, etc.

Does anyone know what portion of the application is trying to load at this point (during the screen)?

The program was working yesterday, with a couple render issues, and today it is toast.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Try applying the Poser 7 update from http://www.e-frontier.com/go/downloads/updates

This sometimes has the effect of doing a reinstall but quicker. Plus you end up with the updated version.

Phil,

I install SR2.1, but still nothing. I've tried a full uninstall/re-install, SR upgrade, reboot/restart, checked video driver with nVIDIA,  and have one strand of hair yet to be pulled.

Thanks for the suggestions thus far.

The underlying issue that started the whole process, was that when rendered to image files the backround transparancy was not included in PNG format.

I am going to try to open the file in P6 to get production back on track.  I will let you know if I find a fix, but if you have any additional ideas please let me know.

Thanks,
V

I finally got the re-install to stick.  I had to delete every reference to poser 7 in the registration file.  Hopefully this will solve all the issues.

Phil,  Thanks for all your attempts
