There has been rumor floating around the net lately about the new Canon EOS 3D.

Word on the street has it that Canon is prepping a brand new DSLR, and this one will be known as the EOS-3D. Some of the features include 14-bit color processing, a 3" display, a 15.1 megapixel sensor and a complex autofocus system, although it won't be as hip and powerful as the EOS-1D. Whispers are also going around that the EOS-3D will have a sensitivity that hits 6400, along with a special extension that brings it up to a whopping ISO 12800. There is no word on an availability date, let alone a release date for the EOS-3D. We'll just have to be patient and wait for an official announcement I guess.

I've been following this page for up-to-date rumour gathering on the forthcoming "7d" or whatever it will be called:

http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/cameras/Canon_5d2_3d_7d.html

Also - that is a 40mm f/1.2 L on the front - googled it and it is not available atm... strange, might add weight to the rumour, might just be a clever ploy.

One of the sites i went to listed the photo of the 3d and then had a link to canons EOS-3 (film slr)...

"In every colour, there's the light.
In every stone sleeps a crystal.
Remember the Shaman, when he used to say:
Man is the dream of the Dolphin"

That photo has been debated to death. it looks more like a 1D series than a 5D successor. i visit the same site as Rich.

Question the question. Answer the question. Question the answer...

I wish I knew what I was gonna say :oP

I'm leaning towards fiction.  to turn the 5D into a 1D series body would defeat the point of the 5D (small light full frame camera). I gut feeling tells me canon has a 5D replacement in the works but they are holding off on a public release until after they release the "new and rumored to be final fix" for the 1DM3's focusing issue. It really would'nt be smart buissiness to release a new high end camera when you still have 5000+ pissed off Mark3 owners out there.
