Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 10 9:07 am)
"And will we have gold textures as well?"
After reading the "making of" article where they spray painted a model for the photoshoot, I doubt it. Just tint the silver with simple colors, and maybe add a tinted specular color, and I'm sure silver could look exactly like gold.
Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.
Or copper, or bronze.
Some people have long toes.
I suspect that V4.2 is going to be an improvement over V4.1. Which one would hope would be the case. Not that V4.1 is a bad figure -- which she clearly isn't. But this one will probably be even better.
IMO, DAZ is headed in the right direction with this.
She needs an anti-fungal treatment, looks like she has a fungal infection on her nails, quick call a Doctor.

Just out of interest. As there is a BIG uproar at DAZ art zone at the moment. About who owns artwork on the AZ there. Did you get permission to use a DAZ3D promotion image here?
Yeah... um.. because um.. Daz would NEVER want to promote it's new upcoming products anywhere at all.... LOL!
Seriously, just using common sense will keep you out of trouble with things like that.

The uber long toes are annoying, I'm surprised DAZ hasn't added some official morph for shortening them (?)
At any rate if anyone wants a morph for such check my freebies, still a bit rough but still $0.
Thanks for the shorter toes... I added those and an early armpit fix, and eye settings to my V4.1 and feel she is fine... STILL waiting to see what else she comes with and if she IS compatible with all previous (and has them in her) morphs for all my expressions, and characters, etc.
Life Requires Assembly and we all know how THAT goes!
I hope I will be able to upgrade at DAZ as I got my V4.1 as part of Carrara Pro 6.
I am relative new to Poser 7 (I entered here) but I still prefer the DAZ humans (females). I know people from different parts of the world may look less attractive for themselves as for those of other countries but I am still of the opinion that the DAZ figures are better and there are more freeware for them as for the Poser figures.

I downloaded...AND DID NOT INSTALL....and read and read and read.... and decided she is NOT worth all the hassel AT ALL... she seems mostly for folks who want a male... you know, the old v3 male was/is really good, and even with the shoulder problem, I am happy with M3, D3 and Hero, and Apollo... so forget the pain of this "new" vickie... maybe DAZ did not want to make an M4??
Aside from morphs, clothes and skins, hair will work anyway...and if not, maybe my 80-90 GIGS of stuff is finally enough for my addiction? ;)
Life Requires Assembly and we all know how THAT goes!
They really do need a true M4... the V4 male has terrible pectoral muscles. On top of that, there doesn't seem to be a way to bulk up M4 to even close to how you can bulk up D3. My shirtless barbarian warriors will be D3 until DAZ gets it right.
The ABSOLUTE best reason that upgrade is worth doing, is for the morph remove pose files. Now my V4's are no longer 150 megs each and I won't have to keep buying external hard drives for my poser scenes.
The problems people are having with the installation is that most folks aren't following the directions correctly. Most folks are installing the "old way" when the "old way" won't work with this new iteration.
For a proper installation:
if you have NOT had the V4 Creature Morphs installed on your machine, then there is no need to have to uninstall V4.1.
If you've passed the test of #1, then for the location of installment, make sure V4.2 is installed in the SAME LOCATION AS THE POSER.EXE. This means, if you have Poser7, the location to install is C>Program Files>E Frontier>Poser7. Most folks make the assumption that the installation location is >Poser6>downloads (if they have both Poser6 and Poser7) or >Poser7>Downloads. As long as you have Poser7 installed, the default location of POSER.EXE is located OUTSIDE of the downloads or Runtime folder.
Now, the only problem should be the Uninstaller. If you DO have the Creature Morphs installed, but didn't install the uninstaller, you will be a long time removing the files manually. This is where the Daz support team has failed it's users. They SHOULD have anticipated that a large percentage of folks don't install the uninstaller and thus give some directions on how to remove the necessary files and provided a work-around.
All in all, this "upgrade" was handled poorly and should have been tested BEFORE marketing it in the first place. Sadly, this upgrade had more to do with the new upcoming Aiko4 because it's file structure was different than what Poser/DS was used to.
Sorry Daz3D. Great idea, but poor planning. And what is up with the Male morphs? They all come out looking either like a toned up Frankenstein or a ladyboy. Plus, you'll need to get clothes that FIT him/her/it. Assuming there will be a M4, we will need more clothes for HIM to!
But that's the problem. The instructions were way too complicated. I followed them and got everything installed, but it took me an hour of manually uninstalling everything first. I don't know about the rest of you, but I never install DAZ's uninstallers, because I don't need my start menu crowded with 100 useless things. So I had to manually install everything. DAZ should have made an installer program which did it all for you and not require you to go through a four page instruction post on their message boards.
They dropped the ball on this one big time...
That being said I LOVE the morph removal pose files, yet such a basic element to a figure should have been with it out of the box and not come out two patches and a year later.
