THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Next Challenge- " Alternate Realities "

dan whiteside ( ) posted Thu, 17 January 2008 at 7:22 PM · edited Fri, 29 November 2024 at 7:16 AM

Looks like it's my turn to select a challenge and I was thinking of a "Modern Art" challenge. Not just pure abstracts (although that's fine) but also surrealist images, abstract modeling, even a Modern Art gallery. What do y'all think? Suggestions welcome!

RodsArt ( ) posted Thu, 17 January 2008 at 8:05 PM

Great Idea!...........I don't remember anything like that before.

Sounds boffo.....write it up, maybe limit it to the Art and not the Gallery  idea though, for a little easier time decieding which to do, and we'll put it up as soon as ICM's Old and New is done. I think it's likely best to not be running 2 at once...comments ?.. ...

I wouldn't mind doing two at once, but just that now I don't seem to have time to do even one. Where has the time gone? It's the weekend again....

skiwillgee ( ) posted Fri, 18 January 2008 at 6:32 PM

Run them both concurrently.  One will be ending in Jan and this one is a bi-monthly so it will end in Feb.

I say let Dan's challenge stand as he described.  It is the perogative of the last winner.

We did have one not too long ago on abstracts.  AS entered it with an abstract sculpture, if I remember correctly.

My question is:   Can an older piece in someone's gallery be entered into the competition?  Or, does it have to be a completely new design?

Attached Link: Rebirth

Sorry I'm rather late on this (been real busy!) but I've thought a bit more on this and since we did have an Abstract challenge not to long ago I thought I'd change it just a little to "Alternate Realities".  Could still be abstract but with the emphasis on Dreamscapes, Surrealism, drug induced states, etc The link is to an example that just came up today at 3D commune by GoneDigital.

And Bobby I'm not sure what you need from me to write it up. If you'll let me know I'll do it tonight.

bobbystahr ( ) posted Wed, 30 January 2008 at 12:54 PM · edited Tue, 12 February 2008 at 9:29 AM

That seems to sum it up Dan...Maybe organize it point form to avoid confusion but a lot of elements like size are sorta default. Maybe include whether or not Post Process is allowed and does it have to be All Bryce or not: all original or can use available models ie: DAZ which I still don't consider to be true Bryce, heh heh heh Blessed App or not, and any other technical stipulations you feel are approriate. Then post the final back here, you won't need to notify me as I'll likely see it shortly after you post it anyway, I'm sadly lacking in real life away from the computer these daze in out current DeepFreeze up here in the Canadian Flatlands,,,LOL.. ...

Well, what kind of file beside the image files are we supposed to upload and should we zipped it? what's the format?

I never entered a challenge here before. This would be a first. How many can we enter?

Thanks but when I first uploaded the images, it wouldn't accept it without an additional file... So I thought maybe I needed to upload the bryce file... Then  it wouldn't accept that but it accepted the image files, and went its merry way. What I wanted to know is, the file that needed for the first entry box, is that for the bryce file and how big  is allowed? Should I zipped it? How many images can we upload?  Is there a set limit per day like the regular gallery?

This newbie wants to know...

** Challenge Entry Specifications

**I realize lordgoron's entry is oversized (dimension wise)
I'll re-size this and any that are over the specs.
Any new entries will not be approved if they're over the secified sizes.

I got rid of the file upload box and the size as updated in the very top most thread indicates 800x600[600x600 for square images] for image size as a max and 100x100 for thumbs which the rules say are not necessary but I think they are...even just for viewing and reviewing images prior to voting, so I vote to change that rule.
Let's get more images in folks and not drive ICM an Meself nuts the last 12 hours...LOL...I know, that's what we're here for....heh heh heh.. ...

1st, Want wish everyone Best of Luck, all the entries so far look  so KEWL!

2nd, When I read the challenge rules, my understanding was & your statement said,  "challenge entry can be posted elsewhere after it's posted in challenge", however I decided play safe, not post in my gallery, which was a  bummer because I'd originally conceived the Busted Dalied set as a  "morphing serie," d'ya see?  So my big question is, is it possible for you Mods to take the full size version of my entry,  insert  it in the appropriate space in my gallery later?

Thanks.

RodsArt ( ) posted Tue, 19 February 2008 at 4:00 PM

Sazzart:

The image in your Gallery is 1600x1200. The Entry is 800x600, has a different texture on the center figure and an added figure on the right side made of yellow/gold glass.

These are bascially two different Images.

If I replace your Gallery image with the Entry Image, the people that commented on the original would be short changed on their perception of what their comments represent.

Feel free to post your Entry as an updated version of the original.

HI ICM:
Thanks; but what I meant was,  there's the intro (no figures) "stand alone", then the Modeled one, & I'm asking if it is possible that the 1600X1200  copy of my entry design in here, can  be inserted in next to  the modeled one, so it's not a broken-up series sequence, which was my original concept.

Thanks, Sazz

RodsArt ( ) posted Tue, 19 February 2008 at 6:54 PM

Ahhh, Now I've got it. (been a long day)

Sorry, we're not privy to that kind of manipulation. The time stamp is fixed in the PHP code. No way to slide one in.The only way I know how to do that would be for you to delete the gallery postings after the modeled one, post the 3rd one in the series, and then repost the following imagery.

The drawback to this method is you'll lose all the comments in these images.
