Hi all,

Does P5 default figure (eg. Don) have same bone structure as V3,M3,SP3,A3,V4?

Thanks in advance

The Daz figures are just more advanced than the old Poser ones. The bone structure is pretty much the same except for the poly count being much higher.

Don was just another version of Dork. Just another wasted character because there's nothing for him like the rest of the P5 people. I like the P4 people better.

All these models were built up from using Dork and Possette. Same structure just more advanced.

V4 looks like the P4 woman if you ask me.

Don and Judy take the same textures as Mike 2 and Vicky 2 and are not just useless figures. With Wardrobe Wizard they're just as clothed as any other figure you have. Not only that but the P5 Kids ALSO take Mike 2 and Vicky 2 skin textures!

Bone structure is different, but not that much. Compared to the Millenium 3 figures, the P5 people have extra toe bones - fully articulated toes.
The P5 people take Michael2/Victoria 2 textures.
Millenium 3 poses work fairly well, since the main bone structure is the same. Although there's a lot of tweaking needed.

I wouldn't call the P5 people useless, I'd just call them underused. Judy is definitely not a beauty, but she can be quite realistic. Just don't try to give her a DD chest, the mesh won't hold up (you need V3 for that kind of plastic surgery).

I do like Judy and if there was more stuff for P5 people I'd be using them instead of Daz figures. The Daz stuff is getting too high res for my needs and too expensive for me.

Judy is a breeze to animate in Poser. I've always liked the Poser people over the Daz stuff. I like simple figures to work with just that they don't come with much.

V3 has those rubber band arms that I can't stand. Judy bends better in my opinion. I stick with V3 the most because there's more freebies for her than any other figure.

Wardrobe Wizard is your friend.  Also, as mentioned above, you can use any V2 tex on Judy.  The eyes need to be applied manually, IIRC but that's all.

Wardobe Wizard and the Eternal Judy Morph package are your friends. Not only do those morphs work on Judy but they also work on Don and the kids as well since they're the only Poser figures that came out as a Unimesh base. IE: The Poser 5 figures were made from the same base for simplifying their Faceroom data requirements. That's why you can morph them into each other in the faceroom. (Well at least their heads were unimesh anyway.)

this got me pretty excited for a while. i have been revisiting some older figures since i notice the size of my pz3's has really gone up with the newer content. i recently had some fun tracking down pieces for maya doll. i wasn't using poser in the old days and i find it interesting.

i even found eternal judy at renderosity and put it in my wish list. then i discovered that it requires "P5NudeWoman.OBJ" and that only comes with p5. in poser7, i have don and judy casual and a nude don for walk designer. there are no kids. is there a baby among the kids because i really like the p4 baby but it has no clothes and i don't want to get in trouble with the rosity police.

i also had a problem finding hair. le hair from englishbob fits on judy but i found nothing for don, although i think he looks good with the hair he has.

with all the scare about copyright, i think that we are losing some really cool stuff. maybe we could get permission to distribute some obsolete stuff for the sake of nostalgia. if some of this stuff were to get into my hands by some means, i could put it on my website. distributing it is not a criminal offence and i don't think that anyone would want to spend the money on legal services to try to sue an old man on social security. for one thing, they would look like fools to the press and it might be amusing to pursue that.

here's to posette and eternal judy......

As a registered P7 user you should be able to download the P5 content from ContentParadise. Including the nude Judy and Don.

Don't let an unaccepted serial number stop you. CALL THEM! If you bought and paid for Poser 7 you are entitled to all of the previous content that they offer to all buyers of the program. Their Websites have never been known for being the smartest sites on the net when it comes to recognising their own serial numbers. Just call Smith Micro Tech support and tell them what's wrong. I'm certain they will work with you if you have a valid serial number and proof of purchase.

thanks MatrixWorkz

i called as you suggested but they had just gone home. i'll try in the morning. i hadn't heard that we were entitled to previous content but it makes sense.

you said we needed "Wardrobe Wizard and the Eternal Judy". i already have wardrobe wizard so now i just need eternal judy.

MatrixWorkz ( ) posted Thu, 21 February 2008 at 2:58 AM

LOL! Well "need" is a strong word and completely subjective, but I highly recommend both! EJ has morphs that make Judy far from her default ugly that everyone complains about. The added bonus have being able to use those same morphs on Don, Will and Penny just adds so much more versatility to the entire Poser 5 family of figures it's a no brainer.

And I can't praise PhilC's Wardrobe Wizard enough when it comes to clothing the poorly supported Poser default figures by allowing them to use DAZ figure clothing as well as clothing from other figures!

i found the p5 content on cp when i was looking for the p5 python docs.....

i loaded it up and was looking at what's there and there's quite a lot. i am creating clipart for an application i am developing for kids called collage and i am doing lots and lots of renders. i am interested in a variety of characters and not just the sexy ones and i like the older characters because they have small file size and render quickly. thanks for the enthusiasm you have shared.

i was looking at your homepage MatrixWorkz and saw the mention of "virtual fashion". it sounds interesting.

MatrixWorkz ( ) posted Thu, 21 February 2008 at 9:39 PM

Virtual Fashion is a program for creating Dynamic clothing for the Poser figures. I have Version 1.0 which only supports James, Jessi, Miki and Teri Yuki. They have a newer version with more figure support but I chose not to upgrade after the dirty tactics they used against a member of the Poser community to suppress his works.

Judging from the Version I have, it's not very good by itself. I have to use two other external programs to clean up the output it makes before making the freebies I have made. I use UVMapper and ZBrush 2 to clean up the UVMapping and geometry that it outputs.

I don't currently have PhilC's clothing creator but I highly recommend you check that out before looking at Virtual fashion. His Program does more than Virtual fashion and he's a respected member of this community.
