THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: need bryce to use all 4 cores

ddaydreams ( ) posted Tue, 19 February 2008 at 9:57 AM · edited Thu, 28 November 2024 at 10:43 AM

Hi All
I'm not geeky enough today to figure this out.

Can I make bryce 6.1 use all 4 cores ay near 100% each on my Q6600 cpu on vista ultimate 32? as it is it's only using half of cpu

Carrara uses all four at near 100%.

If so How do I set that up?

Thanks

does your version of Bryce already know how to use the 4 cores? in that case maybe you can increase the priority of the process, not sure it that will work or make things difficult to operate, be careful with that, but sometimes if an app is competing for cpu cycles with another app it's fixable by going to the task manager (control-alt-del) and looking for the Process, right-clicking it and changing it's priority (try slightly above normal, don't go way too high or you might find it difficult to interact with WIndows until the rendering is done)

there is a small switch you need to set when you open the file, it is not the windows priority setting to do this. Unfortunately i am at the office at the moment and can't verify precisely where it is. There were a couple of threads on this here in the past though, try a search.

Did you know that there is a priority setting on your Bryce UI? This is only available for multi-core machines.

HI
thanks I'll look into these these options.
I'll see if I can find a priority setting on  Bryce UI to. I did not know it had one.

Thanks
I'll let you know how it turns out

It's the last little down-arrow on the left of your render/work space.
Quality, Optimization, Priority.

The Priority option gives you 3 options. You choose.

What version is this on? I don't see it in 5.5 or I am not looking in the right place... Maybe somebody would be kind enough to show a screen shot of the workspace????

(Hope spring eternal for this gal!)

It's not available in Bryce 5.5 AFAIK. The screen grab is from B6.1. Sorry it's not a very good pic.
