Subject: Network Rendering in P7?

The_Great_Gonzo ( ) posted Thu, 28 February 2008 at 7:28 AM · edited Sat, 23 November 2024 at 3:56 PM

Hello I am sure somebody has touched on this before, so apologies if I am repeating a previous post.

Anyone know if there is a decent way to network render in poser 7 between multipule computers, I think that Sixus1? bought out a patch for poser6 a while ago that did this, but I may be mistaken as I cannot find it any more.

Anyone know of a way to do this yet?

Thanks

Gonzo

Sixus1's network render was based on animation and, from what i understand, just had one machine do a range of images (frames) and the other machine do a diffrent range of images.

there is not a way to network render stills... yet.

Poser 7 Pro is supposed to have that feature and is scheduled for release "this winter" which technicaly should be sometime before the end of march i believe.

really? it seems like when it first came out i looked at it and it was only animation.

but then, when it came out i couldn't afford a second version of poser anyway so it didn't matter much.

yup.. you set the frame to 1  then send it into the render q ;)

what do you mean by network render?

if you mean multiple computers working on the same image, you'll have to wait for poser pro.
there will be overhead involved, so 2 computers won't render twice as fast.

however, spreading multiple renders over multiple computers just got real easy since content paradise is offering poser 6 for $2.29 each for passport members. having another computer or computers do rendering or processing while you design on your main computer is pretty worthwhile as far as i am concerned.

Have you checked out  Vue?  I use it for network rendering of poser scenes a lot.  I have a 5-node render farm that I keep going for all my animation scenes.  Almost everything I do is setup in Poser then brought into vue for rendering.

Bryce and shade also have a way to import Poser and have render farm capability.

Personaly i have had a Poser scene that would crash all three of them (bryce, shade and Vue) on import so i'm kinda looking forward the possibilities in Poser 7 Pro.
