THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: DazStudio 2 is out

http://www.daz3d.com/

New features...

*Startup wizard
Auto hide
Drag and drop
Levels of detail LOD
Multiple UVs
Sub division surfaces
Intergrated content

And above all it's free.

So wether you are a heretic, or just an artist that likes to create art in Bryce that includes more human qualities, i'd say this will be helpful. It will to me.

Sometimes they come out very soft
Tinkling light sound

I'm afraid for me it's crashed everytime so far, taking Bryce out with it. I've Tried un-installing and re-downloading, but still the same.
And I'm not the only one reporting problems!

erosiaart ( ) posted Wed, 05 March 2008 at 8:19 AM

oh.. i thought it was coz of my internet speed! It keeps crashing too on mines..tried downloading it twice...

dhama ( ) posted Wed, 05 March 2008 at 2:12 PM

I have downloaded it and run it successfully. So there is nothing amiss with the download, and it runs perfectly with Bryce on my PC running WinXP.

AnnieD ( ) posted Wed, 05 March 2008 at 2:23 PM

Here is what mine says just before it actually loads an image I've been working on:  The log file tells me that the image file was opened successfully but then it shuts down the program.

Unhandled exception: C Exception: Memory Access Violation - Attempted to
read memory at address 0x00000000. DAZ Studio must now shut down.

anybody got any ideas?

Did you allow the Microsoft Visual C++ shared libraries install? I am almost certain thats your problem.

AnnieD ( ) posted Wed, 05 March 2008 at 4:06 PM

Yes I did.  I will try to install it again maybe something didn't do what it was supposed to do.  I haven't had any probs with DS until now..so I'll keep on trying.

Thanks

What version of bryce are you using. I have bryce 5.5 and when trying to go from bryce to Daz i get an error popup.

I have opinions of my own -- strong opinions -- but I don't always agree with them.

I gave up and went back to 1.8 for now..the only thing I can figure out is the video card..
Over at the daz forum they are saying that ds 2 demands a lot from open gl and everything on your video card.....drivers etc. need to be up to date..so until I get it all checked out I'm not going to  use it.

I did go to support>registration at daz and get one of the bundles for 97% off..   :b_smile:

ic ant seem to download it..it just crashes the download...

dhama ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2008 at 3:12 AM

@ CrazyDawg .............I am using Bryce 6.1 and I suspect that it will only be good for 6.1 as that has more of a connection to DazStudio. You could of course still use the characters and import into Bryce as a wavefront file .obj.

@ erosiaart,................ Have you tried using a download manager? Maybe there is high demand for the file right now.

johnyf ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2008 at 9:11 AM

Just updated the graphics driver and now it works fine!

erosiaart ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2008 at 9:16 AM

dhama.. it automatically downloads it...when i click on the download button. I'll try tonite..we don't get true broadband speed here... , though normally that's nto a problem downloading anything frm daz.
wait..it works fine with bryce 5.5, right? coz that's what me using..

dhama ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2008 at 9:58 AM

The actual download is coming from Download.com and I know sometimes when a new file is released there is usually a heavy traffic at first... I guess I got in there just before LOL.
Anyway hope you can get it finally, there are some nice animal characters that come with it... least of all birds.... ive been looking for these for ages for my landscape scenes.

In the DAZ forums, lots of folks are reporting problems.  One of them is that your video card has to have openGL =>1.5.

Unfortunately, it crashes on me regardless...

That is true, but do you have the latest drivers for your video card?
Am I the only one that has no problems...

erosiaart ( ) posted Fri, 07 March 2008 at 10:40 AM

i still haven't been able to download it... it stops downloading after some percentage and says there is an error..
sigh....

AnnieD ( ) posted Fri, 07 March 2008 at 11:27 AM

I went and got the latest drivers for mine...and unfortunately it only gave me openGL of 1.2...so I ordered a new card.  I needed one anyway  lol.
Actually though..I'm having a hard time figuring it all out..doesn't the openGL work with the rendering?  My program works fine up until its time to show the file in the viewport...I wonder if I changed the viewing options if it would load it...
Oh well.....1.8 is working fine for now so I'll wait to see if the new card helps the new prog.

Can you tell me where you downloaded a new driver. I have and ATI video card and new an updated driver as well.

johnyf ( ) posted Thu, 27 March 2008 at 12:11 PM

UncleDonMC........I have a NVIDIA GeForce4TI 4200 with AGP8X video card and I downloaded the driver from the NVIDIA site!

However, I'm pretty sure that I had got the same driver  previously. Maybe a setting somewhere had been unknowingly altered or made corrupt, in any event, installing the driver again seemed to solve the Daz Studio problem!

warning, make sure you get the correct ATI driver for your card and OS. if you don't you will have major problems with things and will need to either rollback the driver or uninstall it and then redownload and install the correct one.

I am only warning of this because i have seen it happen to a friend of mine...

I have opinions of my own -- strong opinions -- but I don't always agree with them.
