Nice to see you back, Ricky! ;-)
I'd suggest you have a loook at Youtube and see how they do it.

And in my final hours - I would cling rather to the tattooed hand of kindness - than the unblemished hand of hate...
I've done some research already, but I'm in the process of reviewing my data.
I was working an a video and had some scenes completed, when a nice Hard Drive crashed wiped it all out.
I'm about to start all over again...
Initialy I was working in DVD format 720x480 but with HD DVD becoming main stream... I'm considering doing the video in 1080i or 1080p
There is also Frame Rate to consider.... NTSC DVD's are something like. 29.97 or 30 Frames Per Second.
When you upload a video to Youtube it gets downgraded to 15 or 20 frames per second to meet with Flash Media standards.
I'm typing this in a hurry since I have to leave soon.. but I will come back some more concrete data.
I read somewhere, about Rendering lets say 60 to 96 Frames Per second and than using some Video multiplexing tools, to do some processing.
Giving the video that Silky smooth Movie like look and feel.

I got an idea for a short (4 min 21 sec) video, but this will be the first one I've ever done. I would like to (eventually, if I ever finish it) post it to you tube.
However, and this is the big question. What's the best resolution and format to use if I'm going to do this?? I'd rather start building my Bryce project(s) for this video in the best format to start with, rather than doing a ton of work and then finding out I did it all wrong.
Has anyone done this and can you give me some tips??
Could be worse, could be raining.
