Hello

I had a poser animation file that I was importing into C6.  I had done the animation from several angles..mainly Freak walking up steps.  Well for some reason Poser deleted the custom made Freak from the freak file.  Dont ask me how because I didnt do it..okay so I redid the custom Freak character and if I open the file in Poser it shows the freak and the animation runs perfectly.

If I open it in C6 with Transposer there is no freak.  If I open it with the native importer Freak just stands there and there is no animation plus the loading intial start position is wrong.  So I went back to all the car files I saved from the animations and they load but with no Freak.

What the???????????

Is freak listed in the C6 instances tab?

bummer!  is that the one you been workin on the last 2 months? it shouldn't be this difficult.  I wish I had any free time to check it out. maybe just do the animation render in poser.  saving as bvh file and applying to freak in carrara might work, if hip element graph is a step function (rather than body element graph).

Miss Nancy will try your idea..

No the freak doesnt show up in C6 and how the heck do you miss nancy just whip that stuff out..it takes me a long time and yours looks more realistic..

see att. link for method.  first one (pink alien) took about 15 min., on account of I didn't know how to do it.  second one (above) took about 5 min., exclusive of render time.  basically, if it takes longer than 15 min., I would hafta find somebody to bill the time to (1 hr. minimum).  :roflmao:

BTw the figure is imported via the transporter and its a little teeeeeny tiny cube almost a black speck that you cant enlarge..go figure.....

Okay am lost went under poses to stair climbing and loaded pose #3 which looks like he is determined and pod.  Now I have to manually move him the rest of the way up the stair manually working the legs and the arms?

Miss Nancy ( ) posted Mon, 10 March 2008 at 2:00 PM

no.  read the other thread again. it takes time for this stuff to sink in.
I've been doing these for 10 yrs., otherwise it wouldn't be so easy.

if what I said is unintelligible or doesn't work for ya, try EdW, who said he
did a longer animation.  he may have some tips that are easier to understand.
but the point of all these softwares is to make animation as easy as possible.
if they tell ya it's difficult, don't believe 'em.  just endeavour to persevere.

The only things I dont understand is drag hip over stair..which I assume means use an axis and drag the hip the stair..the reverse pose has me stumped because I am unable to find how to reverse a pose..the rest is pretty clear.  I also appreciate your patience as I would rather learn than have it done for me..of course I am saying that now at 2 am I might not.....

flip pose = figure menu/symmetry/swap right and left

jack, I got some good news and some bad news.

the bad news: the native carrara pz3 file importer is gonna screw up yer stair-climbing animation,
but it's easy to import it and then time-consuming to tweak it back into shape.

the good news:  carrara can import a poser bvh file and apply it to a figure already loaded
from a carrara runtime, with some tweaking.

the best news: transposer can import the pz3 file/animation (see att. gif), provided one pays
attention to details which may be described in the transposer manual (if any), which I haven't read.

Thank you I havent read the transposer manual.  I found that carrara will recognize freak in earlier versions of my pz3 files (by earlier I mean a few days) but the tweaked ones..freak is imported as a very small black speck...am working and will repost.
