Subject: CS4?

TwoPynts ( ) posted Fri, 29 February 2008 at 7:53 AM · edited Sun, 10 November 2024 at 10:45 AM

I'm still running CS1, but would like to upgrade. I'm thinking CS3, but it has been out for a while and I'm wondering if there is any word on when the next version is going to be released?

OMG I hope not.  It seems like it has only been about 8 months since CS3 came out.  I need a break for a while longer. ;-)  I just bought Painter.  And with my switch from a Win machine to Mac, it has been a costly proposition.  Well, at least it is upgrades from here on.  :-)

I'm not sure I want to follow this thread.  What I don't know, won't hurt me.

Just checked Wiki...you may want to stop reading here ... ;'P "The current (10th) iteration of the program, Photoshop CS3, was released on 16 April 2007......An internal version of Adobe Photoshop CS4, codename Stonehenge, had been leaked to peer-to-peer." Since the last version is less than a year old, I don't think CS4 will be coming out this year. Maybe in 09. I'm not sure I can wait that long though. But I may not have too, we'll see: http://lightingmods.blogspot.com/2008/02/adobe-photoshop-cs4-extended-leaked.html

I don't think they are yet and the reviewer didn't notice anything new with the working version of CS4, assuming it isn't a fake.

Great googly-moogly!
I HOPE CS4 isn't released this year! It hurt to spend the $800 to get the LAST update (I have the Production Suite - I do a lot of video work as well) last summer!

It'll happen eventually, but maybe not for another year. Adobe seems to take a bit of time with their upgrades - that way it's a finished app worth the price. There's some nice stuff worth the CS3 update, IMO, but if what you got's working just fine and you're not left wanting for more features...

Just cuz it's out duzn't meen ya GOTTA get it...

Yes, but CS3 is Intel native!...

Well... Yeah... There's that...
(I'm a Windows guy - never really took that into consideration... Sorry man...)

TwoPynts ( ) posted Mon, 10 March 2008 at 11:12 AM

Hehe, no worries. CS3 will run faster on an Intel Mac than CS2 or CS1 ... and 1 or 2 will be slower comparitvely than CS3 on an Intel Mac. Hrmmmmm, wonder if that is why they are calling them iMacs...heheheh.

Photoshop for the past bunch of years has been updated approx. every 18 months so seeing CS3 was released April '07 I'd expect CS4 around October sometime.

True I think they need to hold off on putting out new versions on CS, Don't they have enough to work with after buying out macromedia?
