Posette who?  Wasn't she on the original programming team for an obsolete version of Poser (soon to be even more obsolete than it already is)?

According to the site, this happened:

Quote - After almost five years I and Posy decided to close the site, forever . Yes, it is a sudden decision but we can't stand any longer having relations with other people, this is because the human nature is no more then an animal in the jungle: ready to assault another individual, unable to stand the presence of people that think differently from their own way of thinking.

In the past we had several episodes of this kind, with the last one, I surrender and raised the white flag .

It's too bad that there are people out that that have to go out of their way to hurt other people.  After a break, maybe Tormie & Posy will find their way back again.

Not knowing any details whatsoever about the circumstances that he's referring to -- no particulars, no personalities, and no participation -- I can't judge the situation one way or another.

Ahhhh yes such an "intelligent" species we are let's give ourselves another pat on the back for being in existence so long on this rock and still fail to get along. Go humanity!

People just need to try to stick together, instead of flinging crap at each other like apes.

I'm always amazed to see so much animosity in the poser forums, when we shoudl all be sticking together... and funny thing is, I don;t see it anywhere else in any other cgi forums but in the poserverse.

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

I use Posette and Dork.

I prefer them over the crap, overpriced, Daz figures.

pitklad ( ) posted Wed, 12 March 2008 at 6:43 PM

This is real bad news! Posette for ever was one of my favourite forums! There you can find a friendly atmosphere that not many web sites have... I hope this is not a permanent decision and it will come back soon...

At first I thought I got banned the way it worded the message Possetteforever id closed, forever. I thought that just meant my ID had been banned because they wrote id instead of "Is". I only joined last night with one post. Now I'll never see the answers I got. Apparently I had 4 PM's to read as well but now I'll never know.

I'm still waiting for my residual checks for all those NVIATWAS pictures online here!

Not to make too argumentative of a point on it -- but IMO I've seen a lot worse at some of the high end forums than what I typically see here.  Or at least that's been the case in recent years.  I won't post links to example threads, but I've rarely seen the knives come out like they can and do among the "high-enders".....whatever the hotly contentious topic of the moment happens to be.

But I'll admit that there are also some cgi forums which seem to have a relatively peaceful local culture.  The Luxology (Modo) forums come to mind.

I'll add that my statement above is most definitely not intended to justify the type of thing that frequently goes on in the Poserverse, though.  However........I've seen the same (or worse) going on at a local McDonald's when a customer seemed -- just slightly upset -- over his claim that they'd forgotten to put fries in with his order from the day before.

A woman came over to me and requested that I use my cell phone to dial 911.

In today's world -- that's not unusual.  Sadly.

Yep -- it's everywhere nowadays.  Everywhere.

Thanks, Dr. Spock.  Too bad that you waited until near the end of your life to concede that maybe you were wrong.  Although Dr. Spock definitely wasn't the only one to blame -- he was certainly a contributor to the present culture.

Try saying 'Newtek' in there sometime :P (or 'Luxology' in a Lightwave forum for that matter)

IMO forum peace or lack thereof has little to do with high/low end, size of a forum, whether members stick together or whatever. It has a lot more to do with forum moderation. This place and many poser forums are relatively lightly moderated so people are allowed to go far beyond what would be allowed in a much more controlled place like eg CGTalk.

But dont get me wrong, I much prefer it the way it is here. Even if we do get the occasional flare up, i believe we also get a much freer exchange of views and ideas in the process.

NukedBug ( ) posted Thu, 13 March 2008 at 5:39 AM

Like an old girlfriend that worked in a pub used to tell me "what gives me confidence is the fact that there is 2 feet of solid wood between me and a drunken customer".
Posting on a forum is the same, you have a certain distance between yourself and the recipient, giving sometimes the wrong person the safety to be a lot meaner that they would probably be in person.

The internet is global, therefore open to anyone, good or bad, nice or horrible, so if you put a site up, is like opening a shop in a mall. You never know who will walk in through that door. So unfortunately a thick skin and a skeptical attitude is a must.

I work in the web business and I still haven't published a site myself, part of it is because is the old adage of "plumbers never sort out their own pipes" and the fact that I do believe content is really king. So to see a site that has been a useful resource to people close because of the opinion of a few people is a shame, as there aren't that many there.

I have not heard that saying since my Dad died 13 years ago.

Problem with some sites (mine included) is that they don't get visited enough or that some company  (not mentioning names cough ef) doesn't want their  product named used in the website name without having to pay big bucks.  So they have to close either because of low traffic or don't want to pay the $$ to a company.

Well, I think I am getting off the original point here, but I think with the new "social networking" phase the web is supposedly going through, sites like yours will get more popular, without having to pay a big engine to be added to today's search algorythms.
I have seen small but good changes towards this, but alas only within certain circles.

Whatever issues tormented Tormented yesterday, he seems ot have worked them out during the night, or so it would appear when I checked just now.  Of course, since I'm banned from his site, I couldn't do more than just browse, and thus not actually determine whether it's fully functional or not, -but it sure as heck LOOKS that way.

What is really needed is a place that will allow users to sell and now have to worry about what cut they get or have to meet certain standards of a few people.
Fact - when I sold my items here I had several textures packages that had seams the front and the back did not align. Even after fixing that issue it was again rejected because of the "quality" of the textures, even though nothing wrong with the textures. So I pulled all my products and will not be selling here again. This happened a few years ago when they started their "ranking" system. Bigger sellers get bigger cut where sellers of one or two products got a lesser cut.

Nope! Can't blame it on me. Apparently it had something to do with religion or politics and not  the fact that I had to sign up a new account. The old one couldn't be reset because all mail was going to my dead domain email address at lostin3d.com.

I wish to thank you all for your care to our little site, actually we're only a little community of friends and I never thought that the closing of the site would have caused so much noise. I won't explain in details what happened but I was in a situation where I couldn't decide in a quarrel where two opponents stood still on their positions. We had several episodes of this kind in the past and I thought that it was time to surrender to the human nature. After the closing of the site the two parts made a deal with me and I was convinced to reopen the site.

Tormentor, I was seriously considering deleting your post because it contains a personal attack on another member, which you should know, is against the TOS here.

I decided to leave your first bit, since it contains info which others may find relevant.

So, let's all keep it on the straight and narrow, folks.

You know I have been a friend of Tormentor's for years (As a point of correction his name is Tormentor not "Tormented" as a few people have put forth) and he is truly a nice guy. I stumbled onto PF early in my poser career and found all of the people there to be pleasant and genuinely friendly.
I would like to voice my opinion here. Although I am sure that a few will take affront to it, keep in mind that it is just my opinion and not a personal attack on any one person.
In regards to Tormentor, considering all of the years of kindness and contributions that he has given to the poser community perhaps people may consider granting a little due consideration. Any person who runs a site will be faced with difficult decisions and will have to deal with people in a manner that they rather would not. That is the nature of the business. Being a 10 year veteran admin of a gaming site I understand this all too well. Conflict is often difficult to resolve, especially when it carries over onto other forums. True he could simply ignore people whom post that have taken issue with him, but also those people could choose to ignore this thread or any other concerning him rather than posting in them. The door swings both ways and due consideration should be given to any person provoking the situation.
