Subject: Poser animation help....sword fight

wakingdreams ( ) posted Sun, 17 February 2008 at 2:35 PM · edited Sat, 23 November 2024 at 9:11 PM

Okay, I have been working on an animation in Poser for a while now, doing kind of a Star Wars themed fan film. I have the dialogue scenes all good, the space fight scenes all good, the walking and all that good stuff

But the script I wrote has 2 lightsaber fights, and I can't for the life of me get them to look decent.

So what I was wondering is, are there any motion poses for sword fighting out there that can be applied to two V3's fighting? If not, is there anyone with really good skills in making motion poses like that would be willing to do some for a donation (or flat fee...I am just really desperate to finish this).

Even still poses with the pre swing, connect and post swing poses I can work around. Right now I have several 1 person poses but I can't find any 2 person poses that work with the V3 figure.

Any help is appriciated as I still plug away at this....

Thanks!

it's gonna be a big PITB animating that IMVHO, but fortunately some guys have done
sword poses and/or tutorials on parenting swords.  haven't got any free time to
search this forum for the threads, but they're posted here at regular intervals.

Thanks..I'll take a search through for some of them.

As an additional question, is there any motion capture type software where you can take footage of a person making a movement, and apply it to the daz figures? I was thinking that might be another option...though I doubt anything to do with motion capture is in my price range. Figured I'd throw it out there anyway :)

A simple mocap setup will set you back around $1000 - and I'm not sure how good that would work.
Mocap software usually can export BVH files, which you can use in Poser. They probably will require a lot of tweaking, I'm afraid.

A simpler option might be buying the sword fighting animations. I'm sure I remember that you could buy them somewhere, a long time ago, for V2/M2 as far as I can remember. Again, they'd need tweaking, but the costs are far less than those of a mocap setup.

The pen is mightier than the sword. But if you literally want to have some impact, use a typewriter

schlabber has some good sword poses - some with two hands. the couples one for (I think) V2 and M2 is very good with ducking and jumping over the sword etc and works quite well with v3 and m3 with just some finger readjustment i seem to recall. love esther

Found a few of them, thanks for the tip.

Question...is there a script or program that can convert BVH files to work with Victoria 3 and M3? Or is it pretty much a whole lot of manual work to do when importing?

Cheers

This is a motion cap program offered her in the marketplace.  I haven't tried it, but it does allow you to make BVH files.

Hmm...I have looked at that but I would like to hear from some others about it before I decide to purchase. Anyone out there use this? What kind of results did you get?

Cheers

Well, well ...

I know ... it's been a long long long (add as much as you like) time since I posted here. Not that I didn't like - I was just - somehow - busy.

However - I promise to come back with lot's of poses - well ... finally this year G

And - not to forget - with a lot of free poses as well ;o)

No - lol - it wasn't V4 :o)

Just busy with my normal everyday job and a new girlfriend ;o). Doesn't mean this as an excusion but from time to time you need a break - even if you're a posaholic (or - maybe exactly for that reason).
I was just burned out after writing the 2nd Tutorial - or book (call it as you like - it's more than 200 pages and still not translated in English). I still do some poses from time to time - so I do have really a lot of new ones for V3 and M3.
But - right - V4 is not the best girl in town for posing :-( .

Don't worry - when the time is right I'll come back. Maybe with the translated tutorial. And if so - I think I'll have some more poses in my pockets.

OKay, we'll accept those excuses. But we want to see new poses soon! Someone had a nice idea for their set of couples poses at rdna. they made a scaled vickie so she would be shorter than the guy and they provided the scaling pose as well. It would be great if you posers could all get together and decide on a new size for vickie as she is too tall and I love premade couple poses. love esther
