It looks very nice, very "Frazetta-esque" (that's a compliment.....) What does it have to do with the Poser forums? Scarab <-(Gadfly of the Moment)

Will Kramer is voodoo here in renderosity. He uses poser for his figures! The final pics are beautiful, loose and natural. His site is earthcurves.com (He's my inspiration to even start with poser and bryce!) Unfortunately can't afford a print at the mo... will have to make do with browsing his site. :/

April, Will was one of the first people I became friends with in the art community and we have remained friends for almost three years now. Don't worry though, Will plans to keep adding to his collection at In Depth Ink so if you can't afford one now... maybe down the road you can :-)

Scarab, I wasn't really sure where to put it and since the originaly piece was done in Poser I figured it could go here. Eric

I second that - he's a very nice fellow as well as being extremely talented. I wish him all the best too. Claire

However...and I mean this in the friendliest manner possible, ....in keeping with the nature of the forum, you perhaps should invite members to visit your site and see what a "professional" poser artist is capable of....the detailed description of the piece and the announced pricing seems somehow "out of line" here.... Scarab <-(somehow it just strikes me that way....)

Scarab ( ) posted Thu, 14 June 2001 at 12:31 AM

PS:....if that's a Poser figure, then......damn!..... Scarab<-(back to crayons and coloring books for me....)

bloodsong ( ) posted Thu, 14 June 2001 at 5:30 PM

heyas; yes, scarab, its a poser figure. :P :) and i dont think they're out of line for announcing this; i'm very interested (maybe they'll carry my prints....) this isn't the anti-commercial forum ya know ;)

Scarab ( ) posted Fri, 15 June 2001 at 12:37 AM

No, but certain protocols should be observed. So many of the members (and to a certain extent, myself) have expressed concerns regarding the commercialism of the forum that at least an attempt to keep this from becoming the "classified ads of 3D art" should be given some shrift. Scarab <-(who, after all, has nothing of value to sell........yet.)

bloodsong ( ) posted Fri, 15 June 2001 at 5:37 PM

hmmm... so ads should be informative, too? like 'look what poser can do' instead of just 'buy this!'? :) okay, that makes sense. something of use to the community. info, goods, or services. well.... it is kinda different from a new hair thing for sale or a new clothing thing for sale, as you just buy it to look at it. not DO anything with it. but i still dunno if we wanna draw the line there.

Scarab ( ) posted Fri, 15 June 2001 at 9:48 PM

It is a very fuzzy line, I agree. Yet there is something "line-ish" about a company/agent coming to the forum to represent an artist with work for sale that doesn't (at least to me) seem to be there when the artist himself comes and (tugging at his forelock and scuffing his toe)says, "Hey guys, some see what I did and it's for sale if you want one". I have always been one to deride the "slippery slope" line of argument, but the bottom of this particular slope could end up with our forum sounding like a particular Monty Python sketch, "SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM baked beans AND SPAM....." Scarab <-("baked beans are off!")

Show me how to edit a post and I will remove the print details... you still haven't given me an alternative solution about where this post should have been made. If it was off topic or spam I would have thought the moderators or admins would have taken care of it by now. Just my thoughts on the matter.

I am making opinions, Indepth, not making indictments. I dont think your posting like this one time constitutes spam. Repeated postings everytime something new is offered (or from numerous sources) might. I guess what caught my attention and caused me to comment was the secondhand nature of the post. As I mentioned earlier it is unusual for a representing agent to come to the forum on behalf of an (I assume) professional artist. I have been with the forums for some years and have gotten used to the artist him/herself announcing their work whether for free or for sale. Thinking about my first comment, I guess there is nothing wrong with the details you provided. Again it is the fact that it is a your company, "Indepth Ink" doing the posting rather than Kramer himself that was different. You I now have no problem with. You obviously read the responses and respond appropriately to them, just like a good member of the community. I guess I just feared that we would be seeing other companies who dont have any interest in being part of the community dropping in ads as posts and not interacting like you did. Again, I have fallen victim to the the "slippery slope" logic that I usually deride. There obviously is no major problem with your posting here or in the manner you did or, as you pointed out, the admins would have responded. I have, however, served in some capacities not relating to forums or art where one has to be concerned about setting precedents and those experiences probably caused my mind to think as it did. Forgive me. Please be aware that my comments are not meant as an attack on you or your company. As I mentioned, your obvious presence and responses reassure me that you are a community member. Scarab, I completely understand your concern for the integrity of these forums. I post here occasionally when I think there is news at my site that is newsworthy (reviews, hosting, etc.) I always answer any replies to my posts and I have sent quite a bit of traffic THIS WAY from my site which is why I had been in the RR webring top spot for a couple months now (now I am in second.) Again, I understand your concern.... but I too am a member of this community and my site http://www.critical-depth.com is more of a community than a company. Eric

Scarab ( ) posted Sat, 16 June 2001 at 5:18 PM

OK. As I said, please forgive me. Scarab

InDepth ( ) posted Sat, 16 June 2001 at 5:20 PM

Nothing to forgive :-) You didn't do anything wrong.
