Subject: "Practical Poser 7"-tut. problem.....

I bought this book by Denise Tyler, and for the most part it is a good and comprehensive book for learning lots of basic stuff in P7. Anyway, the author uses som files in some of the tuts. that should be on sale here at Renderosity (even if the book states that all the files necessary to complete the tutorials comes with the CD!). In the section on the Material Room the tut. uses Ariens V3 Deluxe Edition, but this is unfortunately no longer for sale here at Renderosity. To complete the tutorials I would need this art, does anybody know if it is for sale somewhere else? I am rather disapointed that the book uses files that must be bought when the book states that all the files necessary to complete the tutorials comes with the CD (page 441). Especially when the files no longer are on sale anyway.

If you bought the book here, I'd take it up with marketing, might be better to put this post in the "Market customer support" forum or e-mail the MP direct!!

Injustice will be avenged.

NO, I didn`t by that book at Renderosity, but throug Amazon. The thing is that some of the files for the tuts are supposed to be bought here, but they are not for sale anymore. That is the main problem.

I apologize for the confusion ... when I wrote the book I wanted to demonstrate the process used to create a "state of the art" texture for Poser, but at the time there were very few texture sets available that used the capabilities of the Poser material room to their fullest (and I wasn't aware of any that were free). Due to the hectic schedule of writing the book I didn't have time to create one myself. The deluxe Bootie had only just been released in the stores, and because I knew that those textures made great use of texture, alpha, displacement, reflection, and so on, I elected to cover them in the book.

I asked Arien if there might be a way to give a very detailed look at the processes she used to create a texture. She gracefully allowed me to take screen captures of her Photoshop files so that I could give an in-depth view of the entire process, and those screen captures are included on the CD. It was the best compromise at the time.

As far as the texture set not being available currently, there are several sites right now that are in a state of flux as stores are being moved to find new homes. It's my understanding that the V3 Bootie and other compatible textures will be made available elsewhere, but I'll have to touch base with Arien on the where and when.

I will keep you posted.

Thank you for your swift answer, Deecey. I understand the dilemma you were faced up to at the time, and I appreciate that you will keep me posted. On the other hand, when a book specifically states that all materials for the tutorials are included in the CD and it turns out that this is in fact not the case, there is a serious problem. That the materials are, as you say also quite important to understand fully "the process used to create a "state of the art" texture" does not make things less problematic. Anyway, thank you again for following this up so quickly.

Actually, I again apologize. I did add a note on page 79 that the texture set discussed in Chapter 4 was available for purchase, but the mention in the appendix on page 441 was not updated to reflect that. You're correct, this was an error and an oversight ... which hasn't been pointed out to me until now!

I will bring this matter to the attention of the publisher. (blushes and apologizes profusely)

So in the meantime, is there a texture set you can recommend for the tutorial that is available somewhere? It's quite a pain to have spent the roughly $50 on the book and then find that I can't actually do the lesson I bought the book for. Thanks.
