Subject: You know Poser is taking over your life when....

I was at a trade show yesterday. I saw a woman staffing one of the exhibition boothes; she reminded me of a person I knew, but I couln't figure out just who it was. I kept thinking about it, and when it began to dawn on me who it might be, I went back and checked. Sure enough, the "person" she reminded me of was Thorne's Mikki character (one of my favorites). I know the feeling. I have seen 'Victoria' quite a few times. It's quite an unreal feeling.

and if you start looking for her morph-dials its getting more unreal :-))

LOL, one of the tellers at my bank looks just like Thorne's Nikki, and her name is Nikki. I had to take a render in to show her. Marque

I see the UI in my sleep... Obviously what i'm 'trying' to learn is 'trying' to get through to my thick brain.

But I live in the mountains of North Georgia.... I only have five computers and Poser is installed only of two of them.... What really worries me is when I see someone that reminds me of a poser character and I start trying to find the close file menu button when they start annoying me. Like having a shopping cart full of stuff and are in the 20 items or less line....

When I first got into 3d art, I worked solely with autocad r12. I worked on it so much I started to dream in wireframe.. very disterbing! lol

wow! I had to laugh out loud at all these but I couldnt cuz Im at work. You couldnt make this stuff up! I wanted to see the tellers face when she saw you (Marque) had an accurate 3d model of her! Hope she was flattered, and I'm gonna have to try and dream in wireframe (Styxx) to see if I can! Also I have 5 computers and Poser is on 2 of them (Butch) so that was weird. My contributions: I saw a girl in a really nice crop top and thought 'the character Im working on would look nice in that' and another in a nice womens' suit before I had to stop myself and say 'your a guy, youre supposed to just gawp at them not admire their clothing!' Also, I was driving and glimpsed a really cute young woman in an especially cute pose, but before I could appreciate the sight properly, life (and traffic) swept me away from her and I found myself thinking, 'darn! well I'll just have to recreate that scene from memory when I get home and then I can appreciate it properly' My view; if Poser is taking over your life, then, well, better than baseball IMHO - u just gotta love it despite its little foibles! I just hope someone can tell me it will work better in Win2k with a dual processor PC, then half my gripes will go away. /me waves at PhilC, grand master poser dude :-)

Noel, I agree about dreaming things....Sometimes I wake up in a sweat after seeing that the models are talking to me from the window as I am morphing them. I even had Michael tell me once in a dream, to move him this way or that way. It was pretty freaky!

thgeisel ( ) posted Thu, 14 June 2001 at 2:47 PM

Are we all sick??Do we all need help???Is there anyway out???

Syyd ( ) posted Thu, 14 June 2001 at 2:50 PM

we are bonafide neurotic poserphiles I'd say....any way out...hmm, well, we could sell our computers and grow jerusalem artichokes....

Butch ( ) posted Thu, 14 June 2001 at 3:56 PM

Aritchokes, isn't that a funny?? I spend so much time on my computer now, that I think that the keyboard is growing attached to my hands.... So my Poser Fixation is on a part of a growing disorder... I wonder what Freud would say about a Posette fixation....
