Subject: Build Folder Menu - Appearing Disappearing - P7

WadeTripp ( ) posted Sun, 16 March 2008 at 12:25 AM · edited Thu, 28 November 2024 at 3:38 PM

Hi,

Currently I am having issues with Poser, the Build Folder Menu... is appearing but usless.  I close and reopen, and it is all there.  Or sometimes not.  I am having to close and open and it feels like a coinflip on if it appears.  Sometimes I can reboot and it fixes it other times just closing and reopening does it (without rebooting)

Any advice or thoughts?

My old problem....first Poserstart: no folder but 'Build Folder Menu'-button without function, second Poserstart: all folder visible.
Saving the runtime, de- and reinstall poser: 2 weeks okay, then.. see above

You can try to increase the timeout, so you always get all the folders in the dropdown. See attached link for information where to change the timeout.

Thanks Dizzi, with this settings (timeout =1) poser now starts much faster   -  but also everytime without my runtime ...
I've now set the timeout to 120 (former 90) ...Poser needs longer but it works !!!
Thx :-))

Recently had a similar problem.  Could be ... in part a too large of runtime.  (Mine is 32 gigs) and it takes a couple minutes for that runtime to load ... I don't know about the rest of it.  But that could be where the problem started. Just a suggestion.

I've changed my timeout settings from 90 to 1. Yes, Poser starts much faster, but always with 'Built Folder menu' tag...

My runtime is 30 gigs

It has to do with the number of library folders and the fragmentation of your HD. If the time it takes to read the directory info for the dropdown is greater than the timeout, Poser will stop building the menu. Building the menu will obviously be faster the 2nd time it's done as most of the directory information is still cached. That's why building the menu may work the 2nd time you open Poser but not the first.
