Whoahhhh! Me needs it now!

It's coming along great Connie. I love the lace work & nice job on the breast details!

aella ( ) posted Wed, 19 March 2008 at 9:25 PM

wow so far very cool outfits I love aeon flux and the daisy duke thing is not my style it looks very nicely done. I have been waiting to see what knida of clothes GND4 gets before buying her but if you are releasing outfits like that i may have to grab her. I agree with all the stuff said before I love the fetish, scfi, fantasy stuff, and maybe some haute coutre  pieces and yeah some basic everyday stuff l would like to see what she wears over the course of the week through todays times.

LOL, I don't think so...
I gather he likes to keep his work under wraps till it's released.

I seem to like the feedback and interaction.
Plus, no matter what I do, blackhearted stuff will always look better, his artistry is a lot more refined then mine.

There's a lot to do on this outfit... I haven't even started UV mapping it yet, and with all the little detail, lemme tell ya, I'm not exactly looking forward to it. It's going to take a while!

FrankT... what's a Bone Mower???

Frank - I knew what you meant about the 'Bone Mower', but to me it somehow sounded a
bit rude the way it was used in context.
I guess that sums up how my mind works.

Yeah, not knowing what exactly a bone mower was... that's where my mind was headed :blushing:

Corvas, thanks, I'm glad you like it :)
UV mapping... it can be tedious, but I put on a book on tape, and have at it. It's rigging I really don't like doing, probably because it requires a lot more concentration the UV mapping. I think the older I get the worse my ADD gets.

I just wish I could help out in some way Connie, but I'm afraid I've never done modelling, texturing, rigging, UVmapping or anything like that. I guess one day I'll have to get around to giving it a try, seeing what you & others accomplish does give inspiration.

Yeah, I would definitely include Alice, for two reasons. Firstly, she has a different but yet interesting figure which would look good in the outfit & secondly I would imagine she'd be popular as alot of people use AerySoul's figures.
Pretty3D's is another good figure to use. I don't know Shae from the link you've given.

I use Hexagon 2.2 and ZBrush 3.1 at the moment.  I've got a demo of C4D too but you can't do anything really with it so I've not bothered that much.

Oh and another vote for Alice too

What is the deal with Alice not being on the market? I think I missed what's going on with her, was there some sort of a controversy?
If there was a controversy, we don't need to rehash it all, I just need a heads-up since I haven't been following.

stormchaser ( ) posted Fri, 21 March 2008 at 12:59 PM

Not long after Alice was initially released AerySoul took her down stating that she was too close to them personally, or something like that. It actually caused a bit of a stink with some people, especially when she was put on the market for a second time but only for a short period. Some saw it as a ploy to increase her sales. I can't see this being AerySoul's thinking as they are a very popular vendor.

Joe-B-Wan ( ) posted Fri, 21 March 2008 at 1:52 PM

I read that they "MAY" consider doing another very limited time release in concert with the Alice2.0 update. I don't follow things as closely as I'd like over there, but if this happens there'd be another shot for folks to get her.

Much like my avatar, every now and then I have a hissy fit. :glare:
Then I go back to being a snuggly kitty. shrug such is life.

Several of us are doing things under OKC Design Group. OKCRandy has been around for a while and has helped me with a few technical things on the wizard robe. BluEcho is starting to do our characters, looks like Patorak will be our figure modeller, I think Klutz is coming on board too. And we have a regular snazzy group of beta testers whom also make freebies on occasion. There are couple other people whom have been working with Randy, and still are, like Pdxjim.
Also we have about two or three super duper well known high end members as 'observing and guiding' partners, but I'm not sure I'm allowed to say whom they are.

Maybe Randy will jump in and offer more detail. I'm not the center of it all, so I may not know everyting. I hope I haven't said too much.

Wow alizea. Thanks a million. I haven't had a chance to play with it yet, but I'm sure it's fabulous.

If your taking requests, one of the outfits I use most on V4 is Shadow Dancer form DAZ3d.

I have ZBrush too, and I'd love to find the time to do what your doing, but I'm already involved in a project that's taking longer than I'd planned, and the release of GND4 has distracted me too much already. 😊

By the way, are Alice and GND4 similar enough in shape the clothing is reasonably easy to fit between them?

Not really , I thought so too , but Alice's breast is lower and the back is quite different , so when you dial an Alice fit , you have the breasts that poke through ...

just to say...

not long after Alice's release some controversy came up about her being an "anorexic" character.  i've seen the same said of GND 2.0.  despite much of what's been said on either side, anorexia is a behavior and an illness, not a body weight, and only if there's a huge problem would you be able to tell by body weight.  frankly, i've seen it first in skin tone.  so i'd say when it comes to 3d meshes,  it's about like age.  everyone has their personal reactions, and most people would like to apply their own version of the obscenity rule ("i know it when i see it"), but i think it's not worth arguing over since it comes down to opinion.   in any case, Aery Soul decided not to debate the point, but also not to stay and take the flak in threads tons of pages long and thick with acrimony on both sides.  so now Alice comes out only once in a blue moon, and everyone's just thankful instead of hateful.

also just to say..

there is no copyright on clothing (though i know that's in the works).  otherwise, making a derivative work would be covered by copyright law.

Yeah, I remember the Alice debate too. At the end of the day it was all a load of tosh. AerySoul denied they took her down because of it even though alot of people suspected this was really the case.
The way I see it is these figures are just fantasy characters. In fantasy people can be as thin or as fat as we want them. If you don't like 'em then don't buy 'em. Unfortunately some people love kicking up a fuss because they've got nothing better to do. I think it's sad if this debate was the real reason behind the pulling of Alice.
In my early days of Poser I bought Yaara, a great character, but I don't remember hearing anything about her even though she was really thin. There again, she was part Elven so that must make it OK.
I don't recall the debate about GND2, I missed that one.
Why does a new figure have to represent the ideal? Aren't we here to create fantasy just as much as real life?
