Subject: What happened?

Jenjen ( ) posted Sat, 22 March 2008 at 10:20 PM · edited Thu, 14 November 2024 at 4:35 PM

I uploaded, or tried to upload, an image called "Easter Bunny," and as far as I knew it was uploaded ok .. but it's not there now.  and I got no notice of it being deleted.  Can any member of the Admin staff let me know what happened, please?  Thanks.

If it was "deleted" (rarely is anything actually deleted, only pulled out of the galleries), it sometimes takes a bit for the admin who did so to get a message out to you stating why.

Alternately, are you able to post another image?  If so, and you don't have Gallery Plus, that means that your image didn't take.  If you are certain that your image was not deleted, then you could just post it again.  If it says you are already at your limit for the day, that means the image did take and most likely was either eaten by the system (it happens sometimes) or pulled by an admin.

No, it gives me the message "you can only post 1 image per day," so something happened.

This should explain it to you..

Upload not showing

If you haven't received any message about it being pulled, then it probably just got eaten by the gallery software.  It happens from time to time.  Unfortunately there's nothing you can do but wait until the next day to post again (which it is now!).

Yep. That's more than likely the culprit.

When you upload never pick "preview" because for some reason it counts as an upload when you do that., so when you try to finally upload it you get a message saying you can only upload once per day.

Always just pick to upload it and if you need to edit it, go to your gallery and pick "edit" below the image and edit it that way.

Nope, I'm not seeing it as deleted. So,  I would follow the advice given above by many, that you should never use preview mode...always upload, then edit. ;)

Thanks!  Bet that's exactly what happened.

Thank you all again for your help!

Happened to me a few times, clicking on preview when not paying attention. That really needs to be fixed yanno

The preview feature works. It's when you ignore the instruction that says "Do not click the back button" that the upload slot gets used.

That is exactly what happened.  Tried again and it posted right up!  :)

Thanks again for the responses.

I hate to be negative, but if using a common action like the Back button causes an unexpected effect, ie the upload slot getting marked as used, then the code is broken. Telling people not to use the Back button is just a workaround.

StaceyG ( ) posted Wed, 26 March 2008 at 7:41 PM

The point is there are steps to follow when using the preview and if you don't follow the buttons through the steps and hit the "back" button on your browser instead it will mess up the upload since you are in preview mode at the time and not following the button steps all the way through the preview process.

Hope I explained that clearly enough, lol. Its been a long day:)
