Since landscaping is my thing, and modelling is generally something I leave to other people, I thought it was time I got a little more serious with the modelling side of Bryce. I've a made a few simple things in the past like bridges and jetties,so now came the real challenge.... building a windmill.

This is the work in progress....

All made in Bryce of course, no heresy on this project..... :ohmy:  and also in a way my negative reaction to SciFi scenes LOL...... it's not that I hate them, it's just that I prefer creating something that not many do.

Anyway, back to the windmill, it's taken about 4 hours of work so far, and I nearly got stuck trying to work out rotaion values to get the tower right.....

No texturing at the moment, I still have to add some window in the tower, and maybe a few more minor details.

Holy Sheep!!! Great work so far.. I already invision the final product in some kind of Grassy scene. :)

It's looking good!    :biggrin:

I'd rather landscape......or compose nature scenes.

Not sure if they're still therre but there were some old Dutch windmills on the edge of Golden Gate Park between The Cliff House and Fleishacker's Zoo on Old Highway 1 in San Francisco. These remind me a bit of them - good work ! !

Updated with windows (not Microsoft) and wooden steps up to the gallery. Texturing is going take a long time, should I 'paint' the windmill, or leave old wood...decisions decisions LOL. The roof will be thatched, and the concrete/brick base....well I don't know yet, perhaps a combination of crack plaster with brick showing through.

AT LAST!!! Someone who really appreciates modelling in Bryce! My boy, you'll go far!

If I might be so bold as to make a suggestion about this worthy project, have a look for some ref shots of the top of the model. The dome doesn't quite do it for me.
However, outstanding work so far! Stick this in the middle of a nice space-base for full effect :-) (Just kidding)

Can't wait to see the finished article!! :thumbupboth:

Wow, after playing "Medal of Honor: Frontline" (A vastly underrated title for the PS2) this model is something I'd be interested in if it comes available. :c)

LOL, the far away the better eh? Hehehe....

Yes you might be so bold.... the top is of the thatched variety, so it does look a little odd at the moment, but it should look ok when I've found decent textures for it.

As for the SciFi fusion project, I have recently made a satellite and was wondering what to do with it. :lol:

Took a long hard look at it, and decided to shrink the roof and I think it looks so much better now...... I guess the larger 'dome' made it look more like a windalek instead of a windmill. :lol:

Just busy on the texturing so I won't post a piccy of the new roof yet.

Now that i've started texturing, i've also decided to take notice of TheBrysters thoughts on the roof. I am going to re-design it.

Partly textured but minus the roof...............

Ok, the finished article. I'm happy with the texturing, been working on it for about 6 hours solid... better stop for a break now LOL! Now I just need a scene to put it in. :-)
