Subject: GND4 Outfits Wishlist

Conniekat8 ( ) posted Mon, 24 March 2008 at 9:19 PM

*Oh Connie, just thinking, how many material zones will the outfit have?

As many as you'd like, handsome ;)
I usually make that decision later, after I UV map it and start making textures. It can be made now, but I don't like to lock into a decision untill I have to.

FMB = F**k me boots.  Tend to have a very high heel and go up to mid thigh or higher, horribly impractical for walking in but look great !

Ooh, you little minx Connie! 😉

The reason I ask is because I like to work on materials inside Vue & so the more material zones an item has the better. I can then manipulate each zone to react differently to lights etc.

Love the term F**K me boots Frank! I have a bit of a fetish when it comes to womens boots. Not me wearing them I may add! That's a cool link there Connie, you do realise now I've found a couple of belters that would look good for the GND & V4!!

There are some cracking boots on that link, they are just about perfect :) especially the first one with the chains and the stainless steel heel

Stormchaser, you might want to look at here: www.sharecg.com/v/20995/poser/Charli-for-V4
I heard that it's based from Charlize Theron.

And Connie, that outfit is going amazingly. I adore your fantastic talent.

Connie - If you love to make boots can I be cheeky & put in a request?
Any of these would be great, what do you think?
I agree with Frank about the first one, very cool with the chain!

Conniekat8 ( ) posted Tue, 25 March 2008 at 1:08 PM · edited Tue, 25 March 2008 at 1:13 PM

I think with buckles and a chain something similar to the first boots would be much more fitting to the outfit then the boots they had in the movie. Maybe with a fuller heel andbuckling or lacing to go with the outfit.
The ones in the movie just look like they ran out of imagination ... maybe they were supposed to be plain, I dunno. We don't have to make an exact copy.

I found another interesting link http://www.dimoutshoes.com/funky-boots.html

I think the reason for her plain shoes in the movie was because she had to move around in them alot. Even though she would have looked sexier in others, I can't have imagined her kicking ass in a pair of high heeled boots. But, there again!

Another good link Connie. I tend to like some of the Goth stuff, especially boots that are high heeled with buckles or laces.
I particulary like this pair as it has both buckles & laces. I would probably change the heels though, more of something along the line of the Treadz.

can i suggest that if you're going to do Aeon Flux, you try the one from the very popular series in addition to the one from the much less popular movie?  though it's much more risque.  long ago, i think there was one for Posette.

here's what I did with the leg cuffs - for cases where you don't have any kind of shoes. For shoes, the pants will tuck in where needed.

Frank, I just love Hexagon. I sort of dropped Sub-D modelling in Max in favor of hexagon. Something about it just clicks.  I still use Max for a lot of things though.

Are you talking about boots from the comic strip, or the movie outfit?

The movie boots - they look very comfy, and like something I'd wear to work, especially in late 80's early 90's before the chunky boots... For fantasy stuff, I dunno.

How about theese? They have a nice lace-up detail to match the top.  Theese would be the dressier ones.

And the last ones that stormy posted, but maybe not platforms and with a different heel for the 'chunkier' type.

just to say, it wasn't a comic strip.  in case you missed the series back when, it was an (arguably) great experimental  cartoon series by CalArts graduate Peter Chung.  the movie not only entirely missed the point of the original, it added some aspects of questionable taste (which is interesting, because the whole original series was pretty disturbing), like making the character with hands for feet black.  it was part of the ground breaking Liquid Television, broadcast on MTV.

sorry if all that information is totally obvious, but Theron herself had no clue about the series, so i figure not everyone knows.

and to me, 4 inch or so high heels of any type, even wedges, are just not good for mobility.  the low square heel in the original series looks much more suited to the dynamic moves, but the thigh-high cut and pointed toes of the original cartoon worked even better visually, imho.  but then, i think everything about the original is visually better and more original (if much, much  more disturbing).  but that's just my opinion.

i will say this: the original was popular enough to get resurrected as a movie when cg was good enough to actually pull it off.

FrankT ( ) posted Tue, 25 March 2008 at 4:12 PM

How about 2 versions of the heel, one practical one and one impractical.  Dunno if that's doable though

i should add, i think both outfits are cool.  and the movie was aesthetically very slick.  i think your work so far has been incredible.  i just think that given the wiry and thin bodies of the original series, GND would be well suited for the outfits that actually designed to emphasize that fact.  all of Chung's work that i've seen is like that, actually.  if you ever want examples of clothes that are for wiry guys but exceedingly revealing, try to find Aeon's male compatriots or Chung's version of the story of Alexander, Reign the Conqueror.

StevieG1965 ( ) posted Wed, 26 March 2008 at 12:12 PM

First off, thank you alizea for the fab morph!  If I'm not mistaken, it's the first thing out to specifically fit GND4.

Now, I know that some people fly into a frenzy when this site is mentioned, but, it's relavent so I'll take a chance on getting beat up.  For those that don't know, the WyrdSisters group at ArtZone have converted their AikoEve dress (a christmas freebie) to V4/A4...but, as a surprise bonus, added a fit morph for GND4.  Haven't tried it yet, but, the promo pic looks nice.

The clincher though is you have to join their forum group to get it...BUT...they are working on another group exclusive freebie that will have a GND4 fit as well, but, I won't say what it is since it was recently let loose on the group and I don't want to take a chance on getting booted from the group, cause it's a fun bunch of people to hang with.

Jumping to the reason I'm posting...Cat, the body suit looks amazing!  I'm pacing back and forth waiting for that!  But, I'm absolutely amazed that there is nothing in the store for GND4 yet!  I was expecting at least a page of stuff by now.  What is up with the content creators?  Usually even the bad creators jump on anything new that comes, and you would think that this would have the creators frothing at the mouth to get something in the store.

I know she can wear all the V4 stuff with some tweaking (though the breasts give me major headaches), but, I want GND4 only stuff...the unique stuff she had when she was V3 as GND, now that was some classy clothing.  I would love to see some re-works of those.

Anyway, I didn't post this to start a riot or flame war, but, just to relate my bewilderment on a fab model that was on the "What's Hot" list for 2 weeks and has no support given by any of the content creators. 😕  Have I missed something?

I think just renderosity testing and approval queue is at least a week or a week and a half long at the momet.

Some creators work together behind the scenes, and share their morph before it has been releases, so they can synchronize their releases.  I don't know if Blackhearted does that. My decision to proceed with the GND modeling was only sparked up after I saw GND4 released, and we're still looking at weeks before it's finished. I never talked to Blackhearted directly untill afte the release of GND4.

I'm not to the modeling portion of my "self study" in Poser or any of the modeling programs...got some damn ones, but, I couldn't even map or morph a sphere if you held a gun at my head.

I guess the awareness level of what goes into modeling isn't in my brain yet.  Hell, I'm still in the "deer caught in headlights" stage of trying to texture a simple dress.

WIPs are very interesting, because one could see a project behaves and evolves.
Nothing is frozen as it is, all could be changed because of an idea someone tell you, you go on one way, you stop because of a technic you can't master and go on another way, finally you come back to the first because you wan't to try something and it works!
WIP like this one could have a bad side though: you just can't stop begging for it to be released! :D

This particular project is even more appealing to me on a personal level than others because you are creating something which I made a request on. I am more in anticipation for this piece than I have been for anything for Poser during my time here. And that goes even for AerySoul whom I always look forward to for their new projects.

Aww, Thank You Stormy!

I just LOVE hexagon. For some reason it just clicked with me.  Plus it's very affordable, so, since I have Max at work, I can use Max parts there, and hexagon at home. Even though Autodesk allows me to take Max home and install...

Hexagon has a pretty cool set of video's that I think will come in handy for beginners. I think they changed their location in 2.5.. do look for them.

...Started on the boots, maybe before I go to bed I'll have a pic to show....

This is for the dressy version of the boot.   I'll make a more clunky/chunky/action boot as well.

It'll be a little like this pic, with the zigzag siming up along the outside... same motif that you see on the front of the outfit. Initially this boot had a chunky heel, but I photoshopped in a stiletto.

To make the boot fit, we'll definately habe to turn OFF characters feet and arches and heel... the boot would just look too ugly if I had to fit it around the feet.  If I get more adventurous, I may make a morph to fit inside the boot... but if it can be turned off - why bother.
