I`m using B5, having given up on B6.1 always crashing. I see 5.5 is available as a free download. Are there many differences between the two, worth reinstalling?

No IBL for starters and less presets.However you can use both on the same PC.I've got a copy of 5,5.5 and 6.1,one on each of my 3 hard drives.

I just wish I kept a copy of the original 6 'cos the IBL was easier to use on that version.

Sambucus, i still use bryce 5.5 from what i can remember there were some bug fixes made in it. in all honesty i can't complain about it.

I seem to remember 5.5 was 10-20% faster than 5. I'm also thinking it was the one they finally got multi tasking fixed on. If you went to use IE while Bryce 5 was running you had to press the windows button to pull up the ME task menu and get back in. Windows treats 5.5 like it is a real app. There's less chance of closing windows before the Bryce file saves completely. I'm in 6 on windows XP now so this all could just be faulty memory.

B5.5 has the 'DAZ button', where you can go into Daz 3d, model a character, then import it back into Bryce. Whaddayawantforfree?...;)

Ah, I didn`t realise 5.5 had the D/S button. Thought that was just on 6. definitely worth moving all the presets again, then. All we need now is for the new D/S to work properly.

With bryce 5.5 you will get an error come up with daz 2 but just ignore that and click ok on it everything will still work fine.

IBL is the HDRI feature.

And your B6 presets are definitely worth saving - cos they can all be used in B5.5 - I (try to) keep all the presets the same in B5.5 B6.1 and B 6.1.13.1. - or whatever it was.

But as I've been working a lot in one of the B6.s lately I'll need to save the extras again soon.

mboncher, here is a couple of examples of Bryce IBL using a light probe which is very easy and Bryce produces amazing results IMO!!!
