Subject: Does anyone ceate Poser animations on Mac?

I have a Mac G5 on which I'm trying to do some animations with Poser 6. This issue is this - the preview window will not display background AVI images. All I get is a gray screen crossed with thin perpendicular lines in which can be seen a few pixels of the background animation.

Background still images display fine, and once to animation is rendered the background image is there as well. Where this causes a problem is when I create an animated background that the foreground figure(s) need to interact with.

I've tried all kinds of screen resolutions, image sizes formats (mov vs avi) with no good result.

I use a PC at home but work has provided me with this very nice Mac which is just so frustrating to work with. Is there some kind of setting that I'm not seeing, either within Poser or on the Mac somewhere? I'd sure appreciate any insight from any Mac users out there.
Thanks,

I have trouble rendering animations with P6 on the Mac. I can get a Preview render, but that's all.

I don't know about importing AVI images in the background. Are you trying to composite inside Poser, or are use using AVI as a reference for posing a figure?

I dont composite inside Poser: there are too many issues, not the least of which is "figure fringe". You'd do better to composite with something like AfterEffects.

if you have not already, try opening the avi outside of poser, Quicktime may prompt you to install some missing plugins to play the AVI file.

Thanks for all your responses.

Depending on the type of shot, I'll composite inside poser or else composite with chroma key. I've never had an issue with "figure fringe" that I've noticed.

All of my avi's open fine outside of Poser and they render fine when I render the animation, they just don't want to show up in preview.

Document size seems to have something to do with it since I don't seem to have any issues if I keep the image size down to something like 500 x 300 pixels which sort of defeats the purpose of using the super-duper Mac (at least for me).

Anyway, I'm going to see today if Daz Studio has similar issues.

I'm so happy. I got a reply from Smith Micro tech Support and the answer is so simple I feel like a dope.

I simply needed to change from OpenGL to ScreeD. D'oh!

Well, they say the only stupid question is the one you don't ask.
