Perhaps the "roaming gnome" from the Travelocity commercials was taking a vacation in South America.  Then again, the "traveling gnome" prank is well-known.  This might be a variation on the prank.

Although I'd probably react strongly too if I saw this outside at night.  I don't startle easily, and I wouldn't scream.......but I'd react somehow.......probably try to video more and be ready for fight or flight.

I wonder if that's an RC doll of some kind -- perhaps created as a joke.  If so, then I'd say that it's a "joke" with serious potential consequences involved.  Do it to the wrong person, and they might keel over dead.

This group of kids might either be in on a hoax, or else they might be the victims of a hoax.  According to the news article, other people in the same neighborhood have reported seeing the "gnome", too.

I agree that it's still a creepy video clip regardless of whether it's faked-up or not.

Heh -- the kid with the cell phone camera should have solved this mystery for us by getting up real close to the subject with his camera that night -- to be sure that he'd gotten better pictures.

I'm from Argentina so let me add some details to this, first it didn't happend last week, it was almost a moth ago, it appened in a place full of legends where people is very supertitious, and the legend of the gnome is very old, he even has a name "El pitufo Enrique" something like Henry the smurf LOL, so considering this is very easy to understand the horror when they see this "creature", a really very bad taste joke .
Let me tell you we don't have April fools day here, I'm almost shure it's not an RC doll, prefer the monkey :-) but monkey have longer arms and the proportions... well I don't know how they fake the creature but the fear of the guys is true for me, The Sun don't tell that they were near the cementery of the town.
And here is fall, not so cold yet to stay late at night doing nothing for people with nothing to do ;-)

I sort of agree with ima and others... the gnome is for sure fake as hell, but the kids sitting there had no idea they were in a prank.. maybe not even the camera guy... probably someone in the group said "hey, why don't you film us here for a while", knowing that would be the key for the other guy to start pulling the prank...

They need to send in one of those paranormal investigative teams in to check that one out.  You know -- the folks on cable TV who run around in the dark with infrared cameras pointing at their faces  (amazing that they don't bark their shins more often than they do as they stumble about in the dark).

sigh  Nobody seems to like garden gnomes in the night, out in the middle of nowhere.  Next time I see one, I'll tell him that he's not wanted.  He don't scare nobody.  He'll be disappointed: but such is life.
