Subject: anyone know how to delete unnecessary materials in Poser 6?

How do you delete unnecessary materials?... or can you not do that?

In my experience you can only do that by editing  the cr2/ pz2 file and deleting the materials, but perhaps someone else knows a simples solution.

I guess I can try that... It sounds kinda time consuming though. Is there a python script for that... or something.

Not a Python script, but CR2Builder by kim99 makes things a LOT easier.

Could you clarify what you mean ? There should be a material for each material group in the figure or prop. If you detach nodes in the material room they should be deleted by selecting the node and hitting DELETE before saving .

UVMapper can handle that quite easily. I've done it many times, with figures and props.

Removing surplus materials from a figure is one of the many example scripts included in my Comprehensive Python Manual.

Alternatively you can use one of the several CR2 file editors available. The one I use is CR2 Editor. A free download from this link.
