This will sound really crazy, but I'm trying to identify a particular style of art. It is very stylized, possibly late Victoria / early 20th century. A night sky with gold stars, with a personified crescent moon. This style can be commonly seen on gift wrapping paper (or at a store that sells art paper) though I have also seen it on a timepiece. Robin Williams' daughter in "What Dreams May Come" has a diorama in this style. If this makes any sense at all and you can point me to an example, I'd be very grateful.

Art Nouveau

 I'm not sure if art nouveau is what I'm looking for. The examples I've seen to far are too "bohemian" or "egyptian" looking.

Check out a style called "Symbolism"

 Hmm. Symbolism reminds me too much of romanticism mixed with surrealism.

How about Henri Rousseau?

I'm going to second Gareee and ockham and go with Art Nouveau. Very stylized, a lot of Egyptian influence and gold. Might be late Victorian, but sounds more Art Nouveau.

It looks like a neopagan-style of art which goes back to the early 1900's in england (tarot cards).

The Shaker style began the use of gold stars on grandfather clock moon dials.

Ah! I see wizard clothing in the future! That is a little hard to classify... the Z Gallerie furniture stores used to sell items like that, but not a clue what style you'd call it.

Could be the Pre-Raphaelistic era, that you are looking for, judging from the pic you attached.
But they were "playing" around the 1850´s.

The "solar system renaissance" image is actually from the Middle Ages, a portrayal of the "spheres of the universe".

I think what you're looking for, actually, is a style of art from the early to mid 1960s, when the moon face and star thing was a big craze. It had a very Romantic-era feel about itself, but at the same time it was also tied to imagery from artists like Peter Max (in his pre-psychedelic days).

It is difficult to find Peter Max images that are not psychedelic. Overall his feel is a little too modern.

PalaOddiRaffaello (ca. 1500 I think) was sort of close, and I wish there were more examples of what 1850s artists were doing in the same style because that sounds like what I'm looking for.

Dante Gabriel Rossetti, William Holman Hunt, John Everett Millais, Arthur Hughes, Ford Madox Brown and of course the outstanding : John William Waterhouse.

My art school history lessons serve me well...
