Subject: New Scene settings?

Red Dog ( ) posted Sun, 06 April 2008 at 4:39 PM · edited Mon, 03 February 2025 at 10:52 PM

Greetings all,

As some of you may have noticed, I am back full force into Vue since upgrading to Vue 6 Esprit.

Is there anyway to change the default settings for a new scene? Since I am now using a Widescreen monitor, I want the new scene to default to Widescreen (16:10) and I can't seem to find any to set that :(

Also, does any know of any Freebie Ecosystems for download? I love being able to use them in the Esprit version, but the wife won't let me buy the Ecosystem module. And I have a friend that has Vue5i, but all he has is the default plants that come with Vue 5.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm not sure if it's the same in Esprit, but if you go to file/preferences, on the General tab at the top  in the load/save options there's a checkbox for 'create empty scene at startup' and next to that a button to 'Set Derfault Scene'.

So, if you have that, first save the default scene that ships as backup, then set up your scene as you want it to load, then click on that 'set default scene' button :)

Nope, Esprit version doesn't have that option, so guess I am just going to have to deal with it.

Thanks for the response though.

its under File/Options/General Preferences tab.... (i have pro studio, and never looked at this before upgrading, so crossing fingers it'll work for you, Red Dog) - i found what gill was saying about the create empty scene in there....

as for the freebie ecosystems - dig in the free section here, there's a few i do believe.  and hopefully your wife will come around - ecosystems is sooooooooooooo worth it.  if it helps - tell her the upgrade right now to pro is half off, and you'd be saving even more money getting all 5 modules at once rather than one at a time.  it costs the same (on sale) for the complete upgrade as it does for the one botanica module  (think thats the expensive module - either that or that or the ecosystems one is the expensive one) - either way, its like getting the other 4 modules free =D  (and who can resist getting things for free?)

good luck =D

Nope, not in Esprit. I only have one module I have added extra - Botanica, because I wanted to be able to edit plants, and it was only $39 :)

This is the General Preferences in Esprit:
Vue Options

ummmmm...

Red Dog

top left side, under the pretty blue tab that says General Preferences... right under that it says "load/save options" and RIGHT under that is a checked box that says "create empty scene on startup"  - according to your settings (and what i understand - granted its little) , it SHOULD save things the way you set them - but if you change them, it saves THAT too.  unfortunately, we ARE missing that lovely "set default scene" button - wonder it be hiding at....

hang on, loading vue to see what i can find...

huh.  such a handy button.  and they didnt let us have it =(  my options arent any different from yours, Red Dog.  well, i have check marks in a few other places, but basically my screen looks like yours there - and i couldnt find another spot where they could possibly be hiding that button (kinda like an easter egg hunt LOL)

OMG - i just found the "toggle current view/four views" button!!!!  was wondering where that thing went to - i found it once before (like the second day i had this thing) and never could find it after that.  i thought i'd dreamed it!  LOL

and try telling the wife you'd be saving $120 overall if she let you spend $100 now.... grinz   ecosystems is ... ok, i wont repeat it... but its true. (so is that lighttune module)

my monitor is set to LCD standards (according to vue, anyway) 5:4, and vue stretches itself nicely to fill in all the spots.  i can also hit the "restore down" button and stretch it even further (across both monitors if i wanted, but my eyes go wonky trying)

kinda glad now i dont have a widescreen monitor =D

Okay, got Pro now.

Since I got Botanica module on 3/31, I wrote E-On and asked if they would credit me for that towards the Pro upgrade, since the upgrade special started the following week.

They gave me a Credit to use, and now I have Pro.

I may be lost for the next couple of days playing with eco-systems... this is Sooooo much fun!
